What does Huntington have to do with it?I'd assume that if you weren't a Mariners fan, your pick would still be Zduriencik.... I just don't think you'd be calling him out like you are. Either way, it's really not a big deal. It's not like he picked Ed Wade, and it's not like his vote is going to decide the thing.
Did the Mariners make the postseason? No. And 94% of the people who are going to vote are going to have homerism.
Zack and Miri made a Morneau and now it Byrnes when he Peavy's.
I voted Brian Cashman 88 times because he kept Derek Jeter.
Not sure this should have to do much with a serious GM evaluation. A first year GM taking over a roster that has been ran by the likes of Bill Bavasi would need to be a miracle-worker to get the team into the playoffs. I think postseason or not should be a secondary concern to the individual moves the GM made and whether or not he has a coherent plan and is working towards that plan.

You definitely can be. Take the 2002/2003 Giants. Brian Sabean isn't a good GM. Those teams were good largely because of Barry Bonds, a player Sabean inherited. I don't feel like looking into the state of GM's in that time period, but I'd wager a guess that if you chose Brian Sabean as GM of the year in either of those seasons, you very well could be very wrong.
Over Pujols?![]()
