Again, this year, he was above average, so, this is more in regards to his past work, but, he misses a ton of plays that other shortstops make with ease. A decent amount of his signature jump-throw plays are plays that some shortstops would make without anybody batting an eye because they'd make it look routine with their superior range.

False. He makes really routine plays look phenomenal, while better shortstops just make those plays without having to spin around like a ballerina.

Haha, yeah me makes plays look harder than they are. Example: That way overblown play where he ran into the stands because his range wasn't that good. Pokey Reese in that same game made the same play over his back and didn't need to go flying into the stands because he had more range and was a better fielder.

And seriously, what plays are there that shortstops "don't dare try"?? That doesn't even make logical sense. What shortstop actively goes out there to not go after balls so that they can keep their FLG% elevated?

Something tells me Erick Aybar isn't seeing a ball coming his way and saying to himself "uh oh, I don't dare try to field that ball. I'm only out here to field balls anyway, but I'm just gonna let it go because I don't dare to go after it like Jeter does."

This is why people bash Jeter -- there are so many exaggerated claims on an already great player who needs no extra embellishment.

if he wasn't so overly loved by ignorant fans, there wouldn't be an issue.

He is very solid, if not great offensive shortstop, who plays average defense, which was better this year. He also had a solid year with the bat.

U put Jeter in Detroit for his entire career, and he wouldn't get half this love.

Yankee fanatics that are so blinded by their own love affair with him is what causes the Jeter hatred. He is a great player, we don't ignore that, but he isn't even close to the best defensive shortstop, and he isn't the best in the game. Saying he deserves the MVP, when he doesn't and saying he deserves a GG when he very arguably doesn't, annoys fans who actually know what they are talking about and aren't mystified by great spinning throws that a player like Andrus makes smoothly and routinely.

I love how A-Rod, who is a more valuable member to the Yankees (in at least some ways) is hated by so many yankee fans, while others kiss the ground that Jeter walks on.

Without looking, i think this is the first year that Jeter actually had a better WAR over A-Rod
