    Mauer should go for a 6 year extension. 10 is way too long for any baseball player especially a catcher. They wanna make him a 1B eventually, but there's this Morneau fella who just signed a long term deal in the way.

    To be honest, Gabe Gross is probably the 4th OF and Jack Cust is the DH. Buck's upside in the field is higher than both.

    But you have Davis-Sweeney-Crisp. All much better than Buck defensively, no?

    Gross and Buck would be competing...for 4th OF'er, with one of them ending up 5th OF'er. Cust isn't even in the discussions as an OF'er (check the A's site - it has him listed as a DH only on the roster).

    this is assuming Tavares is dumped entirely, and Damon doesn't come to Oakland.

    again, props to Oakland for picking up so many good OF'ers and all...it just seems like a heck of a focus on one part of the team, when other areas are questionable.

    Buck should get the first shot at a starting job, but it will probably come down to a ST duel. Buck's upside is higher than Crisp & Gross. The A's have given themselves some insurance. If Damon were to come on board, then Buck probably gets traded or something because he's not a defensive backup compared to Gross or even Crisp.

    Also surprising to me is that despite having one fewer player to pencil in (I excluded pitchers from the batting order), the National League averaged almost as much variance as the American League. The NL used an average of 118 different batting orders, the AL 126.
    NL = More Strategy.

    Even if you remove those two it's still close. If the DH actually meant AL teams never used their bench it would sway way in favor of the NL, but it wouldn't even taking Baker/Manuel out.

    You are succeeding in accomplishing nothing at this point but making a fool of yourself. While I admit there are those who frequent this forum who will not read this thread in its entirety, those that do will see you for the corrupt politician that you are, nothing more than someone so vain as to even after his own spurious and dubious methods have been proven to be corrupt, will still maintain the charade, the song and dance because your own egotistical self-image affords no other path..

    While I don't deny your mother played a good role in your upbringing, your father was a chlorophobic pig who disgraced the Earth with his indecency at the table!
