That team is not in the same league of bad as the Knicks, imo.

But yeah, they are most likely missing the playoffs.

I think firing your manger after 9 games is just is ridiculous. Scott is a proven winner they should have **** canned him in the off season if all he was going to get was 9 games. Even stranger is the fact he was replaced by the GM. Basketball is about the only sport you'd see this happening in. On another note don't look now but the Bucks are in 1st place. I'm starting to fantasize about the playoffs.. Somebody stop me.......

Byron Scott's career coaching record: 352-355

He took a Nets team with a lot of talent (Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, and Richard Jefferson) to back-to-back Eastern Conference Championships, but he hasn't accomplished much since. I agree that firing him after 9 games is ridiculous, but the team was struggling, and management must've thought that they needed to make a move to avoid falling out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.

On another note, Carmelo Anthony has become a big-time baller...

He took a Nets team that went 26-56 in his first year and then took them to two straight NBA final appearances the next two years. That team was a laughing stock before he took over. I think you mean Kenyon Martin because Carter wasn't on the team when Scott coached. Then he took a New Orleans team that was 18-64 his 1st year and had them a game away from the finals three years later. Last year the team won 49 games. Byron Scott is an accomplished coach in the NBA who deserved better than what he got.

Did I hear something today that a high school kid is going to Israel to play basketball? This isn't the same thing is it? Or was I just half awake.

There is a high school student playing in Israel next year, yeah.

But Jennings after he graduated high school played a season in Italy instead of college. It better prepared him for the pro game he claims and it hurts Stern's stupid one year in college rule.

Yeah. It is definately an interesting approach that a lot of high schoolers are taking. The only thing that hurts these kids that do so, is that if they fail in the NBA they won't have a whole lot to go back on, like a good education, but of course many 1 or 2 year college players that go into the NBA kind of have the same problem.

I was going to post a thread on Jennings - he proved that spending a year overseas, earning money (which you can't do in the NCAA) and gaining professional experience can work. I don't think its for everyone, because Jennings was an elite talent before he went abroad - you need to be seriously tough to do what he did.

And yes, Jeremy Tyler is skipping his senior year of high school to play for Maccabi Haifa in Israel.

The difference in both of those seasons? The arrival of Jason Kidd in New Jersey, and the arrival of Chris Paul in New Orleans. Without the prescence of a world-class point guard, Scott would've been out of a job even faster. The guy had 3 teams finish as the best team in their conference in 8 1/2 seasons coached, and has no ring to show for it. Yes, he deserved better than getting fired 9 games into the season, but he's hardly the best coach to get fired mid-season.

Word is the Miami Heat are trying to find a way to get LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Bosh all in the same uniform, something the players themselves apparently have talked about.
Haha, talk about wishful thinking. I'm sure they'd also like to trade for Chris Paul while they're at it too

Dwight Howard might look good in a Heat uniform as well.

Looks like Michael Redd's career might be over. Not sure how to feel. He was a great player for along time on a bad team. The team never really had any success with him as the star. From a fan's perspective the attachment isn't their like it was with Allen, Big Dog and Sam. His contract has really became a drain on the team financially so I guess I feel strangely indifferent. One another note, Skiles with hospitalized with an irregular heart beat. Can't say I blame him after watching the Bucks for the last couple of years.

Watching tonight's game on ESPN, they have Doris Burke doing the sideline reporting. That's a joke too, she needs to be the color commentator on every NBA broadcast. She outclasses everyone else and it's not even remotely close...she's in a league of her own, but they relegate her to the sideline because Jackson and Van Gundy like to flirt with each other the entire time. Doris Burke is the best, simple as that..and it's not even close.
I like Van Gundy, I think he's funny
