I prefer baseball sims to football sims for the same reason I prefer real-life football over real-life baseball.

Yes, indeed, Clay! The ability to save a game at any stage of its duration (as with BM 2008 thro 2010). It is fascinating - and rewarding - to figure out plays to counter what the AI is doing, but it does take me forever to get through a half (4.5 hours has been my quickest, so far), and I have yet to complete an entire game.

No doubt, I will speed up with practice - might even get to play an entire game in that record time!

HOLY MACARONI! 4.5 hours. what are you playing it on a commodore 64? It takes me about 20 minutes to play through a game. You know what they say think long think wrong.

I should have mentioned that I am also compiling a playbook, as I go along, entering the results of each play into a separate WP document...see my post in the Trolls' sign-up thread.

I don't think enough people play PBP for it to be high on the priority list yet though.
    Yeah, Brad, I'm probably more fortunate than you -unless you are a retiree,too - in that I have time to play the game. My hope is that when I speed up some, with practice, and a day occurring where I don't have to visit my pawn-broker;
psychiatrist; or parole officer, I can complete a game in PBP...at that rate, I should be able to finish the 2010 demo's season just in time for the introduction of the save-during- the-game goesinta - we should all live so long!

The game should output that info for you: offense formaiton and play, defense formation and play, ratings, and the result.

Thanks Lex, I 've just discovered the Recap button, but I still have to integrate
those plays into the (WP document) playbook that I compiled from the "scrimmages"

Thumbs up Re: Anyone enjoying Football Mogul?

I'm enjoying FM2010 quite a bit, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like some improvement. I'll be repeating some things already said, but I want to reinforce the wish list.

Better play calling by the AI. Having the AI run out the clock when only a touchdown behind is really pretty silly, and somewhat predictable.
    I wouldn't mind a larger playbook.
I absolutely love being able to design my own plays, but I would love to have even more control. I wouldn't even mind being able to assign blocking to the offensive linemen, making multiple play fakes, etc.
Having a scrimmage mode to test new plays against others. If trying to design a 3rd and short running play, I would like to be able to test it multiple times against short yardage defenses to get a good sampling on how the play might work in a game.

Addicted to the game, though. I haven't enjoyed a football game since NFL Challenge way back 80's. Best NFL football game ever made for those of us who want to dig down to the nuts and bolts of a game. Where FM2010 has the advantage is the team manager aspect, which I also love.

My dream game would be having the manager ability of FM2010 along with the detailed play by play and play design of NFL Challenge, I suppose. You don't have to add the animated X's and O's though.

I play my "scrimmages" by starting a game in pbp mode, selecting all my plays, testing out various players, situations, formations, etc. then, when I've finished, this practice session, I cut & paste both the recap and the sortable stats to Word-processing documents, for further study and analysis - see the "Posters" thread in the League & Dynasties forum - then I leave that game , taking care not to save it, so that it can still remain to be played as a scheduled fixture, or for anothe "scrimmage" session.

    Hope this helps.
