The thing is, before the 2007 versions of Mogul there was NO play-by-play. There were a lot of people buying the games for the sheer enjoyment of making a champion through trades and the draft. Adding the play-by-play seemed to hurt the games rather than help since many users forget what the game was intended to be. The play-by-play is simplistic and serves the purpose. Yes, there are major flaws in the play-by-play, but FOF and Action PC Football are great for that purpose.

My main concern with both Mogul games is the AI! If only the AI had a general idea what it needed?

This might be worth starting a new thread, but can you guys discuss what changes you'd like to see in Play-By-Play?

The 1st one that comes to mind is updating the AI common sense. If it's 2nd down with 10 seconds remaining and the computer is in field goal range and down 3, KICK the ball rather than run a draw? I know there are bonehead moves, but the computer AI makes Jim Zorn's play calling look good.

When I play defense, and I'm going to select my play, I'd like to see what kind of personnel is in for the AI offense (how many WRs, TEs, RBs).

    Thanx.

I certainly had that idea, as it is more realistic, but it does require that the offensive playbooks get a lot larger, otherwise it could be pretty easy to predict the play based on the personnel (and/or formation).

That's what I was going to ask next

    (1) Have the AI play calling make sense. Goal line stands and dive plays on 3rd and long make the game a joke.
    (2) Have the play calling clearly affect the outcome. We see defenses rated A to D against various plays but if there's an effect it's too small to detect.

Is it possible to have the CPU play D? I just want to call the plays when we have the ball..

Ditto. It can get tiring calling defense plays. sometimes I like to just let the CPU make the call.

I am not sure the AI is using the onside kick? I played a SB game and the computer made it 24-20 on a TD with around 20 seconds left. Nobody would kick it deep in that situation, except the CPU did!

Yes there is an all star selection at the end of the season but it is all messed up. The offensive linesmen are usually from Atlanta and Baltimore, and the guards and tackles are the same guys.

I downloaded the demo, and have to say that it is a vast improvement over the last FM demo I tried. It is a much better game and the AI is, imho, a better AI than it used to be. And at least now a draw is not an instant TD. I have been playing BBM for 5 yrs or so, and that didn't improve to all's satisfaction instantly either. Keep up the good work Clay and thanks.

    Season length.

In real life, I prefer the NFL's 16 hames to MLB's 162 games because it makes each individual game that much more important. However, when it comes to Mogul, baseball becomes a daily game while football is a weekly game. Thus, when pkaying a single baseball season, there is so much more to do than there is when playing a football season.
My entire sentiments, exactly, Rob, on both the RL and Mogul versions of these sports...I could have written your post, myself, word for word!

Yes, indeed, Lex!...as with BM, it is my favourite mode...it's taking forever for me to play, right now- about 4 hours to get thru 1 half, yesterday, but that's because I'm new to the game, and studying each play offered , noting the ones that suit my team, and noting them in a separate text folder, besides writing a running commentary so that I can later assess which players did what...I'm really getting my moneysworth out of this free(2007) version of FM!

Really looking forward to getting 2010.
