    Drafting

Please someone tell me I've set something up wrong.

I started a 2003 season on coach level and simmed to the 2004 draft.

With the first pick of the draft the CPU took TONY ROMO!? Who went undrafted in the 2003 draft.

Jared Allen was the 4th pick of the 1st round. He wasnt drafted until the fourth round IRL.

So, all the teams know EXACTLY each players ratings and they will be drafted in that order? Am I to believe that there is no place for draft sleepers/busts?

Please tell me there is some option for this...

The draft has real players, but not real results. Brady will probably be a top pick in mogul not a 6th rounder. So no, there are not any real sleepers. Maybe there will be some busts?

Yep, because the game can 'look ahead' and see how players did, guys who were sleepers (like Brady) are going to be really high picks now. I would imagine you can still develop players 'above' their draft status, though...and you can certainly end up with busts.

It has been my impression that the AI drafts based on perfect information, not scouting ratings. Clay's last post in this thread appears to say that, though I find it difficult to believe that's the way he intended the game to work.

Thats insane. So every draft is just a fantasy draft. I'm incredibly dissapointed.

And there is no 2008 draft class. Just the made up guys. So... no McFadden., Matt Ryan, D.R.C., Joe Flacco, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte.. They all just randomly appear if you choose to play in 2009.

That's pretty much how it works in every football sim, actually. The difference is that in some of them (Front Office Football for example) the computer teams are drafting with Scouting info, not absolute knowledge of the ability of players. So there's still a bit of hit or miss.

What's the point of scouting? Trades only? Why on earth would a game be designed that way?

Hmm. That should be corrected. I hope they are included in Clay's uypdated draft post?
