Hypothetically, any player could still get there. They could just bat 1.000 the rest of the season.

Lol, realistically though, Mauer has rapidly increased his average to over .380. He can keep up this pace as he has done it before this season. He has a great shot at .400.

He increased it over .380 by hitting .465 so far in August. I don't think he can keep up that pace. It's theoretically possible, but highly, highly unlikely. He has a very, very, very outside shot at it, not a great one.

Then maybe the voting assholes would give him the MVP instead of Texeria since Mauer was by far more valuable

He's hit .465 through 17 games in August, that's a pretty damn good pace.

If it takes Mauer hitting .400 for him to get the MVP, I quit.

I think it will be wonderful. Posada will be done by then behind the plate and he would be an incredible addition. He still won't bat .400 though, even as a Yank!

unfortunatly I think .390+ is what it will take if they dont make the playoffs because the voters are idiots. They are obsessed with HR and RBI and dont take into account position.. if they do its very little. Without Mauer Twins are not even THINKING about winning let alone the playoffs... he is bey far the centerpiece of that team... not to mention he is an unbelievably good catcher

    Re: .400

Assuming 450 AB for the year

he needs 41 hits in his next 84 AB to hit .400 or .480 the reast of the season
I would LOVE to see it but good luck... a few 4 for 4 games tho and he might be able to do it

Looking at Sir K's list, I think the best bet is "someone not currently in the majors": Tony Gwynn
