    Three teams in the AL (and two in the NL) were worse that same year, 1968, so that's not it.

    more of a question.

    what is the closet any player has ever gotten to hitting as many home runs as his team won or lost their games.

    the reason i ask, Adam Dunn's year.

    the example would be.

    If Dunn had hit 50 homers, but the Nationals only won 58 games....he would be 8 games off..

    or if the Nats had only lost 58 games, what is the closest anyone has ever gotten?
