Hadn't thought about that, but it is interesting.
Kind of makes sense. Except one could argue that the team was better this year than last year. Adding half a season of Cliff Lee, 3/4 of a season of JA Happ, Raul Ibanez, and half a season of Pedro Martinez while subtracting half a season of Adam Eaton, 3/4 of a season of Kyle Kendrick, Pat Burrell, and half a season of Brett Myers.

Then again, Cole Hamels was worse in 09 than 08. And Rollins was worse. But other than them, no one really had down years (besides the aforementioned Lidge).
Zack and Miri made a Morneau and now it Byrnes when he Peavy's.

Steve Berthiaume and Jon Miller ought to be taken out back and shot. I guess Joe Morgan voted by proxy through Jon Miller.

It's interesting that Trevor Hoffman had the best fastball of qualified relievers this season.

The little blue smiley that's winking at you with a smile at the end of my original comment should indicate to you that my jets are quite cool. Thanks very much for asking though. Had I left this: at the end of my comment, your comment might make sense, but as usual...

just saw a pretty cool tribute on Robin Yount.

Pretty cool if you have never really looked at the player beyond the stats before.

I like humble, hustling ball players.
