Sounds like something that would happen here
damon has been excellent this year, and I don't see the red sox making a trade like this. they haven't given up on Papi, and last I checked Holliday doesn't play 3rd or 1st. I think they really would like to keep Yuke at 1st (hope he's ok after being hit on the forearm yesterday)..so i could see them in the market for a 3rd basemen depending upon lowells injury significance. maybe a SS if they decide to move Green or Lowrie to 3rd...but Lowrie has had some setbacks on his recovery so who knows.
Any Sox move would be minor IMO....you won't see any major move from them this year. Same with the NYY....and I think the Mets will sit pretty much pat as well in defiance of their dumb fans who want to trade the little talent left in the farm for aging vets.
same. The second I heard La Russa saying they needed him I thought "why?". Last I checked they had Ankiel/Ludwick/Rasmus/Duncan/DeRosa. All 5 are capable of playing RF/LF with Ankiel & Rasmus both capable CFs.
Obviously the upgrade from Ludwick to Holliday will probably be around 2-3 wins better, but he's going to cost more than the upgrade they'll get in my opinion.
The reason most fans want a move to be made....is because Albert is our entire offense. we want a Fielder to complement our Braun sort of thing. Ludwick is a good player...we have a solid make up of players.....we just don't have that other type A player in the lineup...we have a bunch of solid B's.
I don't really want to move Ludwick for Holiday unless we can get a good deal on an extension that allows us to resign Pujols and others over the next few years.
Holiday isn't really that much better then Luddy....overall, he is better....but not enough to warrant a trade to lose him and others
It's really not even worth discussing because the A's would not trade Holliday for Ludwick.
Why would the Rockies even consider trading their best reliever in the midst of a possibly playoff run?
**** YOU DAN O' DOWD
Not sure about that. Holliday is really good (He was even more valuable last year when Ludwick broke out), even when you look at park adjusted numbers like wOBA or OPS+ and Holliday also sports the better defense of the two.
Depends on who the others are. If I could trade Ludwick & a B level prospect or two, I would. I doubt Oakland accepts that though. They're probably going to tell every team that they want a package worth a 1st round / sandwich pick and if they don't get any offers they probably don't trade him (I think they will get a deal they like though). Oakland drafts pretty well so I'm sure fans are looking at a win/win.....overall, he is better....but not enough to warrant a trade to lose him and others
How about if the M's trade Miguel Batista to the Phillies for Greg Dobbs? M's will pick up half of what is left of Batista's contract and the Phillies get some pitching help.

No thanks. Check out USSM, they have an awesome fix to the situation.
3B : Lopez
SS : Cedeno (Preferably trade for someone better though)
2B : Yuni
All of those guys profile to be at least league average at those positions. Unless the Mariners think they can get someone who plays a different position and convert him to 3B or sees someone I don't as a realistic trade possibility, I'm not a fan of trading for a guy like Dobbs.
