The Machine: The Career of Albert Pujols (1998-??)

"Welcome to the 1998 MLB First- Year Player Draft" Were the first words out of Commissioner Bud Selig's mouth on June 2, 1998.

My Name is Albert Pujols I am 18 years old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I was born January 16, 1980. I was Raised my grandmother. We came to america in 1996 and moved to Independence, Missouri were i had 2 years of American Baseball Experience. When I was 15 in 1995 I signed a 2- Year Contract with the Santo Domingo Wolfpack of the Domincan 18 and under leauge. I hit a total of 28 homers 69 games with the Wolfpack we were 50-19 in 2 years. I played in the same leage as Ruddy Lugo who played for the Barahona Spidermonkeys. Then in 1997 I began playing baseball for Fort Osage High School and hit 43 homers in 80 games we went 65-25. On November 24, 1998 I announced I was heading straight to the MLB after the 1998 season.

    Rules
I did not edit him so for some reason the draft is buggy and he is a 75/89
I will re-sign all of his contracts and will not control his team I will make all the trades for Albert and will not touch him otherwise.
If he is injuried for more than 5 weeks while at A or R he i will make his injury for no time but if he is Injured at AA or Above I will not touch his injury

    so lets get going

Interesting start, but since he's bilingual, perhaps you can translate this into Spanish as well, for all of the Spanish speaking readers.

    1998 MLB
    June 2, 1998

"With the First Pick in 1998 MLB Draft the Oakland Athletics select......Daisuke Matsuzaka Pitcher Seibu Lions, Seibu, Japan"
That was shock to me I though I was going first but then I googled Daisuke and was amazed I watched a couple of videos of him he was electric.
Then the Royals announced their pick
"With the 2nd pick in the 1998 MLB Draft the Kansas City Royals select........"
I closed my eyes and hoped it was me.
"Albert Pujols First baseman Fort Osage High School, Independence, Missouri" My family went wild!!!! Everyone was jumping up and down screaming and shouting that I had to walk outside to talk to Royals Manager Tony Muser.
    "Good Evening Albert." He said.
    "Hello, Tony!!" I Said
"How are you feel right now??"
"I feel like this is a dream!"
"I have talked to our owner and he is sending you to the Wilmington Blue Rocks our Single-A team"
"That's great!! When will I leave?"
"You will be leaving June 15 if we can get a contract signed on a plane from Kansas City to Charlotte and then a limo will take you the rest of the way."
"I will sign as soon as possible, I need to call my agent so I will have my agent talk to you about a contract"
"Alright, I will see you soon, Albert!"
    "Ok, goodbye."
Then I went back inside and everyone was wearing #5 Kansas City Royals Jerseys. And my Mom came over to me and put a Royals cap on my head, I was Excited.

How did they know he was going to be drafted by the Royals? What if he was drafted by the Pirates? What would they have done with all those Royals jerseys? It doesn't make sense.

Also, George Brett was #5 for the Royals, and they retired his jersey. Although he didn't get elected to the Hall of Fame until 1999, they wouldn't have given it out.

Let's change Pujols jersey number to #86. Now on with the show!

Re: The Machine: The Career of Albert Pujols (1998-??)

I got on the phone with my agent the next morning and told him I wanted 1.25 million dollars for 5 years.
"I will see what I can do Albert.."
    "Alright go for it"
    Two hours later
"Albert your a Royal for 5 years"
    "Awesome!!!"
"The Royals are putting you and the DL for 20 day since you won't be in Wilmington until June 15 and they don't wont to rush you so you will be activated June 22"
    "Sounds good"
"The Royals are going to Introduce you at Kauffman Stadium on June 12"
    "Alright I'll be their"
I started calling around to see if I can get a tour of Kauffman Stadium, and I got a tour for June 11 from The Owner
I was going to watch a Royals game June 12 when the Brewers will be in town.
I am going to get on the plane June 15 at 3:15 and arrive in Wilmington at 8:30

Who is "The Owner" that owned the Royals in 1998? I forgot his name.
