That whole line of argument is bull. While it's probably true that on average men have more muscle mass or whatever then women, there's absolutely nothing average about people who play professional (or even semi-pro) sports.
The top 1% of men play pro baseball. I just don't see how an argument could be made that the top 1% of women couldn't compete equally in a non-contact skill game.

I think a woman will probably play in the MLB within the next 15-20 years but just as a 1-2 game stint to draw fans to the game just like Eddie Gaedal
Won't happen. The whole Gaedel incident took care of that possibility. If anyone tries to do something like that then the other owners will sanction whatever team tries it.but just as a 1-2 game stint to draw fans to the game just like Eddie Gaedal

I don't see why it shouldn't...
The only real issue there is if that would cause most women to be excluded. Having pro woman's basketball and Olympic events allows more women to compete. I wouldn't have any issue women who chose to forgo competing in the "woman's league" in order to compete in the men's, though.

My point was.. have you watched women basketball? Even the best woman would have a hard time being a bench warmer .. the games look so vastly different they move at absolutely different speeds.
In addition look at all track and field and swimming events women times/scores lack significantly behind mens, look at the results from the olympics in any comparable race the winner of the womens would finish last in any any of the mens race.
Even at the top 1% women are still behind the men physically - could a woman possibly compete with the men, maybe, but in order to break that signifcant barrier, the woman must rank as a top player to make that jump.
Well baseball is a bit different than those sports, but I definitely agree that I just don't see even the top women being close to the top men. I can't see any woman being able to play 3B/1B/corner OF. 2B/SS/CF/C & possibly a soft hurler sure, but even then I don't see more than a 90/10 breakdown of men v women.
Individually, one on one, maybe. There are some women who can out compete 99.999% of all men in their sport of expertise, though. Keep in mind that baseball is a team sport.Even at the top 1% women are still behind the men physically - could a woman possibly compete with the men, maybe, but in order to break that signifcant barrier, the woman must rank as a top player to make that jump.
I hear what you're saying about the WNBA too. The thing is, the WNBA... I don't know, it isn't really a fair comparison. It's not as though there is a minor league system in basketball or anything, for one thing. That and the talent pool in the WNBA (and college basketball as well) is extremely diluted.

If one is as talented as a man, I'm all for it.
However, I cannot imagine a woman having the physical strength to compete vs. a man, unless she is taking male hormones.
My instinct tells me never.
It would be cool, IMO, for a WMLB though!
Let them have a league of their own... oh wait that's already been tried.
Don't see it happening.
