someone else on this forum has it, but i promise to never say who. It isn't that bad, I just can never fall asleep, can't wake up and most sleep meds I become very dependent on very quickly....so i just always stay up late, struggle to get up in the morning, and then will be tired until like 9 p.m. then i go into overdrive and can't sleep but am fiercly productive....most people just think I am strange...and all of my employees just understand now...they will get more emails from me between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. then any other time.
I've never heard of it either.
...reading about it though, I think that I might have the same problem. This:
describes me perfectlyIf, however, they are allowed to follow their own schedule, e.g. sleeping from 4 a.m. to noon, they sleep soundly, awaken spontaneously, and do not feel sleepy again until their next "night".

Thats too bad ohms, sleep disorders really suck more than anything. I had a touch of the flu and it really throws me out of whack. Sunday I only got 1 hour of sleep and its been an ordeal ever since.
The last time I had the flu, I didnt sleep for 3 days until I went to the hospital and the dr gave me some knock out medicine. I hate it, but I guess its the way it goes.
Exactly
a lot of mine i think is self induced. In college, I was an on-air radio vj for 3 years. I worked over nights frmo 10p-5a during the week, as well worked at a bank in the morning from 8-noon. and I would have afternoon classes M-W-F's. I got to sleep Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and some weekend hours...when I wasn't with my gf. I have always been a bit of a workaholic...but during this time period....I would stay up for 75 hours in a row at times....it was terribly unhealthy for me. I started seeing things during my late night shift...it stunted my growth (this is the age that most Lage's do their most growing, and I didn't) and I lived on Mountain Dew to stay awake. I learned a lot of valuable lessons, but when you are staying up for 3 solid days straight only to get a two hour nap, followed by another day of being up and then sleeping like 15 hours in a row on a Saturday...you just can't get normal sleep ever again it seems. And I am somewhat permanetly stuck...and this was 5 freaking years ago...I have had many jobs where I had to be at work at 8 A.M. and I just couldn't ever go to bed at night in order to get to work on time in the mornings, I would do it, but I would be doing so on zero sleep. I just could never get back into a normal routine. then a doctor told me I had a form of DSPS and that is likely it. It's supposed to be inate...but I still believe I caused most of it.
I know exactly where you're coming from. I feel largely the same way.
Reading a little bit though, our experiences seem to be fairly common. It's not that we've caused it, we've simply adjusted our lives to the fact that we're "disabled".

DSPS fits me to a tee too. Will have to have my doctor look into it. Sleep meds don't help. Melatonin did help, but I am on a medication to keep me from remembering my nightmares and the melatonin countered that, and that is a no-go.
I would be most worried of the stress it put on your heart at that time. I worry about that myself constantly. But I can see how you put yourself on such a routine how it can have permanent effects. Look on the bright side, when you have your baby boy at least you will be up for those nite time feedings. Your girl will love you for it.![]()
Those nightmares mustve been pretty bad. I will tell you one thing, I think I wouldnt be alive without that cpap machine, either my heart or getting in an accident. Just imagine getting off work going to bed, and then hearing your alarm and it feels like you just put your head on the pillow.
The doctors here in town said I was the worse case of sleep apnea they ever seen. I would wake up and not know it every 2 minutes.
The thing is that I guess for most people, even if you "adjust" your sleeping pattern (say, to work nights), they never really adjust. That sounds a lot like me trying to continuously make a 8 or 9 am work shift. I can do it, but it's a chore. I have to force myself.
If I just let myself go my natural rhythm seems to be that I go to sleep at around 3 am and wake up at 10 or 11. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

haha yup! We have had that convo many times! she used to really struggle with my sleeping pattern, always upset that I would come to bed so late, but she seems to be better about it now, I just tend to sleep at my office a lot because if I am going to stay up late, and come to bed late, it will simply wake her up.
I def hurt vital organs, your heart needs rest, badly...and I could feel it more so when I would go that long, not to mention all the other things....poor driving abilities etc that are caused....living on zero sleep is a dangerous way to live life....just need to find a way to make it work with your life so that you can still live a happy and normal healthy (and hornly) life.
