    Question on pitching arsenal

Any websites out there that tell you what pitches a pitcher throws and/or hoe often they throw the pitch? Always wanted to know because Mogul has pitches for pitchers but sometimes commentators say they throw other pitches. Like Tim Lincecum. Mogul says Fastball, Curve, Change. But he throws a 2-seam which is option in the game. And Mike Krukow says his change has sink to it. So why doesnt Mogul call it a sinking change. And his curve is more of a hard curve I would say. But the game gives him the same curve as Barry Zito who has a much slower and bigger curve. Im so lost

Not all of them are perfect, but they do their best. You can edit Lincecum's pitches to whatever you want them to be. Make him throw a "slow ball" if you want.

www.fangraphs.com has the rate at which pitchers throw a specific pitch type and their average velocity. It doesn't separate between two-seam/four-seam fastball for example, and there will be pitches misclassified, but it's a start.

well yea i know you cant be perfect. i was just wondering if there was a site like the one u posted and if there was a huge difference with lets say a slower curve and a faster curve IN THE GAME. but i guess im in the wrong section for that answer

Heh. Baseball-Reference has some stuff that FanGraphs doesn't have, such as ERA+ and OPS+, absurd amount of split data, leaguewide data, etc., but Fangraphs has stuff that Baseball-Reference doesn't, such as the pitch type data, improved defensive stats like UZR, an overall value metric in Value Wins, etc. I use both sites extensively. Together, they have basically everything needed to evaluate players, teams, and leagues.

ditto. If only football and basketball had sites like these. They shoot track stats for dribbling and precise route running. Probably impossible tho but I can dream.

That is near impossible, at best, to measure.

Better football stats are available at footballoutsiders.com though
