Have fun not having any split stats, encyclopedia, PBP, depth chart, user controlled expansion drafts, league builder, all-time all-stars, not having many options as to how you want to play or with league settings, not being able to control sim settings etc etc etc...

Near perfect? Even as a text-based sim, not even close. The utter and complete lack of changes to free agency, expenses, and PBP is baffling. I wouldn't go so far to say nothing has changed, but it is true that it has only changed for some people.

However, if you don't care for the expansion drafts or league options, he is right in saying that almost nothing changed except updated rosters.

There also just seems to be less effort coming from Clay. In the old days, he'd release multiple patches a year with new things. We got peak start/end and we got things like PBP. first with player mode only, then with the addition of manager mode and gm mode.

BM2009 saw little changes patchwise, after much promise that "when you buy the game, you are subscribing to a year's worth of updates." This was true before, but it seems as though BM is no longer interested in improving as much as it did before. This is why I haven;t bought the new game after 6 years of buying it every year.

I suspect the whole mess with his physical distributor bailing out (going bankrupt actually, if I remember correctly) and the BMO situation were probably massive distractions that aren't there anymore.

Lets be realistic here, what would you do if YOU were the programmer of this game?

You know that many will buy your game year after year. So you come across a way to introduce a new feature while patching the present release, you are more then likely to shelf that until the new release to make it more attractive to buy it. Why would you introduce new features in the present version when people already bought the game?

Yes, to me there isn't much of a difference between 2009 and 2010 but lesson learned, I will wait a few more years when the game as REAL new features that will be useful to me. If you want to sell one year of support for half the price then I would consider it but the way it is right now, 2010 is certainly not a new game but just further patching of 2009.

    Saying like it is.

Once again, just because the new features aren't the ones that you yourself wanted does not mean that there are no "real" new features. They just aren't the features that YOU wanted.

I, personally, rarely use any of the new features except for the ability to change the number of pitchers and hitters, but I'm rational enough to understand that just because the new features aren't attractive to me doesn't make them not new features.

Like 2009 was 2008, and 2008 was 2007, and 2007 was 2006, and 2006 was 2005, etc. Mogul has ALWAYS been that way and, in my opinion, it's FOR THE BETTER. I don't want a new game every year. I don't want to have to relearn how to play every year. I want the game I've known and loved for years to be updated and improved upon.

Wouldn't this be at the expense of being able to use the custom stadium pictures? I would rather be able to use those than to see players moving around.

Now, having the ball move around as it is thrown would be cool, but there are other things to work on first.

actually, that would be kinda off putting, seeing the ball move side to side without any fielders animated. No thanks.

yup, i didn't see the new features i wanted, but I also understand that clay is likely working hard to piece together a product to not only make the general public happy with his product, but also those of us that consistently use it and will continue to buy it. The features I want, I have stated, but I am not going to be upset if i don't get what I want, because I realize that isn't the reality of the situation....if he tried to please all of us, the game would be buggy, and no fun to play. I think Clay did a great job with the new game, however, I was a little skeptical at first, after playing it more and more I am liking it more and more.

and to the guy who started this thread (forgot his name) "you telling it like it is" may only be true to you. but it isn't to the majority of us.

HGM, you are being quite nice, I like your management style here and above.

Just because 2010 didn't include updates that YOU wanted, doesn't mean that all it was was small features. User-controlled expansion draft, League Builder, All-Time All Stars, etc. are all more than "small features."

I have to agree with HoustonGM. There are new features and things you can do and he listed 3 major ones. And believe me, I have griped over things that were not done, but the reality is that no other game I've played or currently play has the potential to entertain me for hours. Its simplicity coupled with your ability to "mod" the game to your needs as well Clay updating it throughout the year, makes this game well worth it (for me at least) like they said before me, there are some players who will buy the game every 4th year or so. you have to do what best suits your situation.
