I am sad to hear this. Always liked to listen to his "outta here" home run calls on the highlight shows. One of the best voices in all of sports and he will be missed for a long time.
"It's the fans that need spring training. You gotta get 'em interested. Wake 'em up and let 'em know that their season is coming, the good times are gonna roll."
-Legendary Baseball Broadcaster Harry Caray
Great voice, great guy, he will be missed.
At least he saw the Phillies win it all.
Gooo Angels!
I'm sad to hear this and sad for his family. I also know the strange sensation of having a broadcaster become almost a part of the family. The more skilled they are at their craft (and he certainly was highly skilled) the more that broadcaster and his voice stay with you. My heart goes out to all Phillie Phanatics everywhere. It's something you can't understand until it happens to your team's broadcaster, and then you find yourself blubbering over someone you never knew in real life, but feel like you had a strong connection with. Somebody whose comforting voice you'll never hear again. When we lost Tom Cheek up here, baseball fans across the country went into mourning. Hopefully Phillie fans will find a decent broadcaster to take over, but nobody can replace this great voice (listening to the final three outs of the 2008 World Series as I type this). His work on NFL Films was awesome as well. He will be missed by so many. RIP.

Mark Fidrych died today as well. Today's a bad day for old time baseball fans...
