Kruk and Kuip—The Best in a Watered Down Business

    Nice.

And I wholeheartedly agree, btw. I've had MLB Extra Innings for years, and I can tell you that even my mom (a lifelong Dodgers fan) agrees those two, are, without a doubt, the two we love the most.

It's actually why I watch almost all Giants games. Just because of them.

I mean, don't accuse me of blasphemy here, I could close my eyes and listen to Vin Scully. He's a living legend, and as far as I'm concerned, still the best at what he does. But for entertainment value, I'll go those two Giant broadcasters all day long.

Sometimes in a blow out game or in lulls, they'll find something or someone in the stands, and make a five minute analysis that will have this old fat guy in tears laughing. Once, they focused on this poor soul out in the bay trying to land his boat and get out on some rocks, and the rocks were wet, and well......... you get the picture. Never laughed as hard watching a baseball game as I did that day.

The voices for the Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves jump to mind as some of the most egregious offenders. Good LORD—listening to the Bravos' guys during that seven-run inning was excruciating.

Hey, when your pitchers are walking the stadium, guess what? The umpire isn't going to give your pitcher the corners. Get over it.
It's funny because I was listening to a White Sox game in ST and they seemed to fit this description perfectly. I really think the White Sox have the worst crew that I have ever heard

Seriously, the first 5 innings all they were talking about was how the White Sox and Pierzynski and Quentin and everyone was going to be so good this year. Then, when they start losing they did not talk about the game for the last 4 innings. It was like "oh..we're losing....well...let's talk about our lives".

    YES!

    Again wholeheartedly agree.

We've discussed who we thought was the worst as well, and I just can't listen to Hawk. Can't do it. If I've got the White Sox game on, I've gotta mute it. That bad. They added Steve Stone this year, which is a vast improvement over whoever that guy was the last couple of years with the Hawk, but I still can't stand White Sox games. It's painful.

I think the Red Sox two are pretty good, the Yankees throw several out there and you never know who you're going to get but the main guy (whose name escapes me now) is good and Singleton is pretty good, the others, meh.

The Texas Rangers pair is pretty entertaining, and the new guy (well, the last two or three years) the Braves got is pretty decent.

And the two on WGN's Cubs games are good, IMO.

Most are good enough to listen too, and some are better. But the White Sox??? Nah, I'll keep it on mute.

I heard a bit of the Giants broadcasters, they seemed pretty good... you still can't beat Gary,Keith, and Ron though.

Vin Scully and the Boston Duo of Don and Jerry are the tops. The D-Backs announcer's don't sound bad. The Nat's ones are easily distracted. I can't stand YES, and I am not a fan of the Braves announcers.

I don't like the Braves' announcers either.. I'll watch them just to get something other than Jays games.. I don't like the YES announcers either.. There's another group for the article writer's Homer group..

The only time I really had to mute Jays games would be the times Rod Black and Joe Carter were the announce team.. I still miss Jim Hughson and Buck Martinez..

    Gotta love Mark Grace.

Agree with all re: White Sox being #30. They may have gotten rid of Darrin Jackson, but until they take the Hawk out to the trash, they will stay in the basement as far as this poster is concerned.

The Jays crew is pretty close to the bottom, but in our area the radio crew of Jerry Howarth and Alan Ashby make up for it.

Metsguy is right about Ron Darling. He's one of the brightest analysts out there.

Jerry ("the Rem Dawg") Remy can bring tears of laughter to your eyes as can Mike ("Grab Some Pine Meat") Krukow as mentioned by OFG. I don't completely write off the YES crew: David Cone and John Flaherty (and before his defection to MLB Network: Al Leiter) are very good, but Michael Kay should be sent away; far, far away. Jim Palmer's great as well as Bert Blyleven. Rod Allen of Detroit surprised me last week with his insightfulness. Ray Fosse of Oakland and Tom Grieve of Texas are solid and I used to like Rex ("the Wonder Dog") Hudler when he did Angels games, but I don't think he's there anymore. Al ("the Mad Hungarian") Hrabosky of St. Louis and Chris Welsh of Cincinnati seem pretty good to me.

I don't see how this is a watered down business. It is definitely watered down on a national level, but only because the two major baseball networks choose to go with Morgan and McCarver, but at the local level I find it very good with a few exceptions. Kruk and Kuip are definitely towards the top, but until Vin Scully bids adieu, as far as I'm concerned nobody can lay claim to that title.

I freaking hate Micheal Kay, just hearing him on highlight reels annoy me. But I pretty much grew up listening to Krukow and Kipe because they played Giants games on regular TV at the time and they are very good.

Im going to get it, but I dont care much for Vin Schully. Dont hate him, just dont care for him.

Unfortunately I like the Braves a lot, so I have to suffer through their incredibly boring announcers.
