I sure am glad that the Mets wouldn't give Lowe that 4th year, cause we might have ended up with Perez.

First off, Perez isnt done as a Met because there is too much money tied into him. 36 Mil for 3 years. Based on his performances this year, I find it unlikely somebody will trade for him (even if the Mets eat a chunk of it), if anything he may be demoted to the minors for a short period, but other than that you can count on him stinking it up whether it be the bullpen or the rotation in a Met uni.

They could keep trying and hope he mis-clicks.

Actually, since he has 5 years of MLB service.

It might do him some good to agree to it.

It wouldn't just be service time, because there are veterans with more than five years of service time that sign a minor-league contract.

Right, but by doing that, that's accepting assignment to the minor leagues. And, once they're added to the MLB roster, if the team tries to demote them, they have the right to refuse it.

If he refuses the assignment, doesn't he get released without pay or something?
    Illini.

Yeah I need a Winn-Dixie grocery bag full of money right next to the VIP section...

No. Players with more than 5 years of service time have the right to refuse assignment to the minor leagues. He has a guaranteed contract, he's getting all $36 million.

The Detroit Tigers have possibly the lowest baseball IQ in the history of baseball. They're actually losing a game in which Adam Everett his a grand slam. Unbelievable.
    Illini.

NVM. Curtis Granderson makes up for it with a 2 run shot.

4 consecutive BB, including one to Jamie Moyer. Just pathetic. 2 1/3 IP- 6 BB- 5R.

The good news though is that we finally get to see Ken Takahashi
Unlike you, the fan, the Wilpons' are actually writing checks out to him. Despite what you may do with under-performing pitchers with capacious contracts in Baseball Mogul, in real life owners demand the players to be on the field. Expecting a 12 million dollar player to be demoted* any time soon is about as delusional as me expecting to do Donald Trump's daughter tonight.

Besides, Oliver Perez is still your best option right now for that rotation spot. Who do you have that's better than him right now that isn't already in the rotation? Don't tell me that you have hope of a feeble, injury-plagued, rusty Pedro Martinez being better.

*Or traded or flat out released
