A large majority of positions players don't have great mechanics which lead to more chance of an injury. Not to mention pitchers are at a greater risk for injury than a position player regardless of how perfect your mechanics are. The risk really isn't worth the reward.

If Ankiel could get lefties out, he would add so much value to a club if they were willing to use him as a lefty specialist. He could either pitch to every lefty in the game, with the other pitcher playing left, or he could just come in to get a lefty out when the bullpen is taxed, or just whenever.

Vernon wells just broke up Greinke's scoreless streak with an RBI single in the first inning.

His scoreless streak was broke last game. He had a streak without allowing an earned run, which is what was broken.

And yet, each of Greinke's 4 outs so far this game were K's.

Yeah. I meant to say something along the lines of "First earned run".

So I am just dicking around in the future as the Cardinals...and ran out of room for Rick Ankiel as an outfielder by having better position players....so I went to edit mode, made him a pitcher....and didn't touch him otherwise, holy crap what a good year

Second game in a row where the Yankees scored at least 7 runs in an inning versus the Tigers' pitching staff.
