If you're talking about Scott Olsen of the Nats (I can't recall another Scott Olsen, but who knows?), then on MASN's coverage the gun has him at 87-89. It's also got Santana at 94 a couple of times, but mostly 92-93. What's MLB Gameday saying about Santana??? Or is there another Soctt Olsen and we're talking about two different games???

what is a pitches velocity? It loses velocity during the entire 57ish foot flight from pitcher's hand to catcher's glove, batter's bat, ground, screen, batter's body, ump's face mack, etc...

It either the average velocity throughout the entire journey, or an instant velocity that's measured sometime between when the pitcher releases the ball and the catcher receives it.

well I can't say for sure what it's measuring but it does say average FASTBALL velocity..so I'm assuming it's only fastball...maybe their algorithms that decide the pitch type are messed up? Who knows.
