Well, his reasoning for using Farnsworth against Jim effin' Thome in one of the first games of the season (if not the first, I forget) was that Ron Mahay isn't a "lefty specialist" so he didn't want to bring Mahay in to just get a left-handed hitter out.

Given that, his reasoning is probably "Joakim Soria is a closer, and closers are used in save situations", so, since it was a tie game, he wouldn't go to Soria.

    It's ****ing retarded.

cause his 45? I can't imagine why you would remove him there either......that's something Tony LaRussa does sometimes...he will take out a pitcher (even relievers) that are getting the job done already who haven't hit a high pitch count so he can use someone else because of leftie matchups etc....he over manages sometimes, and it has hurt us....usually he makes good choices, but he does that sometimes, and it frustrates me

He threw 84 and 91 pitches in his first two games, and was removed due to ineffectiveness. Removing him after 73 pitches while he's absolutely DOMINATING is just stupid, unless, as was the case with Jarrod Washburn the other night, he's fighting illness or was injured.

that's such ********....just because you have the title closer, doesn't mean you only pitch in three run games in the last inning...if he is effective, and can help you win a game, use him! use whoever is best that can help your team win...and if you have a valuable lefty in the pen and they have a lefty that can easily hit one shot to end it, bring him in....and since he isn't considered a specialist, maybe he can even pitch the whole inning.

There was already 2 outs I believe, so they'd only be using him to get Thome out!

And yes, it's stupid. Managers need to stop managing to roles and re-start managing to WIN.

was he due up? is it a close game? is there a medical thing we don't know about? those are valid reasons to remove someone dominanting after only 73 pitches...johnson can still throw 110 pitches and still throw 94 mph the whole time....let him do it. why tax your bullpen more then you need to?

Hillman was just on radio and apparently is blaming it on the defense (Jacbos made an error). I wonder why he doesn't accept any blame for being so stupid to keep running the worst 1B ever out there when Butler has actually been pretty good there.

There is no possible justification for the series of moves Hillman just made. I count four dumb decisions, all of them getting dumber as the games goes on. Jacobs at 1B, dumb.Pulling Cruz. Stupid. Pulling Mahay, stupider. Putting in Farnsworth, unacceptable. God our manager is actually a stupid person. Usually this is just internet speak and people getting carried away...but this time, I actually think it is true. I actually think Trey Hillman is slow.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.

Yes, that is usually what Hillman says. I know it's not just Hillman, a lot of managers do it, but Jesus Christ, it's just unreal. Unreal how these "professionals" can be so dumb.

Blaming it on the defense is one of the worst cop-outs in the history of cop-outs. Wow.

Sure, Jacobs made an error, in the 8th inning. So, sure, you can blame Jacobs for the game becoming tied, if you want. But you can't blame Jacobs for bringing in Kyle Farnsworth in the bottom of the 9th inning, after the game was already tied, against the 2-3-4 hitters of the league's best offense, and you can't blame Jacobs for Farnsworth giving up a walk-off home run to Michael Young. Sorry, Mr. Hillman, that is ENTIRELY YOUR ****ING FAULT.

Don't forget pulling Juan Cruz, who has been spectacular so far this year, in the 8th for no reason whatsoever..then pulling Ron mahay for Jamey Wright instead of Soria in the 8th.

Just unacceptable managing today. Unacceptable. This division is so wide open and we have a legit shot at hanging in the race, but this bozo has already cost us 2-3 games. Unbelievable.

BTW, KowboyKoop, to ease your pain, just gaze at this chart of Zack Greinke's velocity:

Yeah, Greinke was just sick ridiculous last night.

I'll be over this loss tomorrow...it's not even really the loss that hurts..it's the fact that this is a clear trend for Hillman. I'm fine with the players we have on the team, but to have several of them be used so horribly over and over and over is just sad. Bloomquist has value, but Hillman insist's on him being a starting RF. Jacobs has value as a DH, but Hillman insists of him starting at 1B, despite Butler looking good over there (and hillman saying Butler has looked good over there), Farnsworth is fine in the 6th or 7th inning or just to eat some innings in games we lead or are behind by 3+ runs..but nope, not according to Hillman..he has to pitch the 8th or 9th. Just a tragedy.

    Re: MLB Talk

I can't believe how bad I feel about a 7-5 start. We seriously should be 9-3 at least. Our offense has bad numbers, but our BABIP has been pretty bad so far compared to our LD%, and our plate approach actually seems fairly good...so there are encouraging signs. Our pitching has been magnificent, even with farnsworth it is 3.14 ERA right now (2.63 ERA without Farnsworth) More than a K per inning for the entire staff.

There are some legitimate reasons to think that the Royals can hang around in this race, given the weakness of the division......our top three starters are pretty good, the bullpen is fantastic when used right....the offense is below average, but not awful......but our manager is negating all of it. Unacceptable. Us missing a playoff spot because of our manager seems like a legit possibility....and that should never happen.
