    You didn't speak too soon.

He is the best reliever on that team, by far.

Gregg comes in and gets the job done. Strikes out Thurston and Rasmus and gets Schumaker to ground out to short. 5-5 BOT 8

Never said I hated him. Just everytime he's come in before this one he's either almost given a game or has given the game away.

Cards go down in order in the 9th as Gregg gets Ankiel to popout, Pujols to ground out, and Ludwick to ground out. Pujols on the day os 0-4 with a walk. Pinch-hitter most likely Bradley, Soriano, and Fukudome in the bottom-half for the Cubs.

Lincecum cruising with 13 K's through 8 inning...98 pitches...and they take him out and, rightfully, wind up giving up 2 runs.

Last year, the Giants were willing throw him 130 pitches in meaningless September games...yet they take him out at 98 on a day when he is absolutely dominating in a game in April?

Only if the Yankees want to put a pitcher at RF.

Can Matsui not play the outfield?

Probably not, but then they'd forfeit the DH, not that it really matters at this point.

    HAHA Giants = EPIC FAIL.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.

    Re: MLB Talk

The Yankees used five pitchers today.

Chien-Ming Wang threw 1.1 innings and gave up 8 runs, inflating his ERA to 34.50.
Anthony Claggett threw 1.2 innings and gave up 8 runs as well, inflating his ERA to 43.20
Edwar Ramirez threw 2 innings, giving up just 4 runs (!), bringing his ERA to 8.44
Jose Veras threw 3 innings, giving up only 1 run, but still has an ERA of 8.53
Damaso Marte threw 1 inning and gave up 1 run, and his ERA is 21.00

I know the season is early, and Wang is coming off an injury, but how can you have such a bad pitching staff?
