MLB Extra Innings - free preview

Not sure who knows about this already, or how widely available this is, but it seems MLB Extra Innings is providing a free preview from today through April 12. I know it's going on with Comcast in Chicago, and from what I've read it's in at least a few other markets and with a few other TV providers, so you might want to check it out. It would appear practically every game will be available on TV this week.

I've had it on DirecTV for several years, and yeah, the first week has been free every year.

I think the difference now is that many more providers are offering MLB Extra Innings. I think at first it was exclusive to DTV, then to Dish, then assorted cable companies have begun offering it.

    I love it, btw.

You're right, virtually every game is on all year. There might be a total of 20 games a year unavailable, out of the what, over 2,400 or something. It's great. But it is nearly $200 a year now. When I first got it, it was $32.25 X 4 payments, or $129.00.

Not sure, maybe they don't. I was told about three years ago that they didn't have it, but then it was either last year or the year before my son told me they had it available now as he was looking at switching to Dish. I've never actually looked into it though, cause I'm happy with DirecTV.

Like I said, I'm not sure, I think it was exclusive to DTV at first (I've had it since like 02 I think, IIRC).

I do know more and more Cable Providers are starting to offer it, as my son (who moved again in Feb of this year) got Comcast and he said Comcast offered it now.

Yea, OFG. I bought it up until last year with DTV too but it's just too expensive so I decided to go with Gameday Audio

irritates me. I'm from close to Philly. A Pirates fan, and we have absolutely no access to FSN pittsburgh, yet anytime there are packages or anything any pittsburgh game is always blacked out. I ordered the NHL package earlier this year to watch my penguins, and every game blacked out. They refused to give me my money back, kinda BS if you ask me. But blacking out the Pirates? What few fans we have, you'd think they'd let us watch them.

I still don't understand blackouts on extra innings and stuff if you live in the market. Chances are if you have extra innings or whatever you have cable and typically the local teams have a sports channel there, or a channel that features their games, so why would you black it out?

Oh well. got to listen to the radio feed anyways today. Still stoked bout that 9th inning 3-run 2B by Jack Wilson.

Well, this is all kinds of stupid.

For Direct TV, the Tampa/Sox game is on channels 738 and 740. I go to these, and they are both showing 'not purchased'. Any OTHER baseball game's channel is avaialble. WTF?

But here's the kicker - I go to the 'MLB Mix' channel, and it has the sox game available on one of the 8 mini-channels. So I have audio, and 1/8th size video, of opening day at Fenway. Hm.

Nevermind - it was only the pregame ceremony that was on the preview channel, but not the actual channel.

Now the sox game is on, as of 4:05pm. Thanks again!
