Having been born and raised in NY, I proudly say that I am a NYY fan brought up to hate the Mets. Herein lies my dilemna.

The Yankees were given a New York City park to build their new stadium. In other words, expensive/protected land owned by the city. Then they built the stadium using municipal bonds, i.e. public money. To top it all off, they raised prices something like 76%. To buy an average ticket in the 2nd tier will now cost about $72. If you are a big spender, a sky box costs $800,000 or the price of a home. The whole reason the new stadium was built was to add these sky boxes. To access many of the exclusive clubs/bars, you must either join or buy a ticket for over $125. Then throw in the owners retarded son who has never held a job given free reign over the whole thing. Finally, this is the worst recession in 40 years and most fans, let alone corporate box buyers, cant afford it.

I am going to a game in late April just to see it, but cant imagine going to 10 or so games a year like I used to.

My alternative was to become a Mets fan. Problem is, their new stadium is just as bad if not worse in some cases. Also, the Mets suck.

The solution is to buy Yankees tickets when they play in Baltimore. The price to drive to Balmore, tickets, hotel, bars, food, etc.. actually is cheaper when you have 4 or more people. Plus, the stadium is great and the urban renewal around Camden and Ravens is way better than the Bronx.
