    Tigers release Sheffield?

    Was there a 2010 vested option they were avoiding or what?

    no option...
    probably just figured might as well let a kid play... he wasnt great last year.

    plus... with him of the 25/40 man... maybe someone else stays up (who is out of options)/gets protected

    Good for the Tigers. I like when teams recognize a sunk cost instead of continuing to hurt themselves by playing the guy just because he's making a lot of money.

    The Tigers acquired speedy outfielder Josh Anderson from the Braves on Monday, which would have put a dent in Sheffield's playing time this season. Anderson gives the Tigers flexibility and allows Carlos Guillen, who was shifted to outfield this season, to spend more time as DH.

    I am thinking, definitely an AL team that signs him on as DH. Marlins are an outside shot.

    MLB Trade Rumors is thinking the Rays.

    we have Schafer who they would rather for power I believe... Bobby was never a big speed manager. Plus gonzales and sorriano are I believe fa's this year. Blanco will probably be the CF for now... Or the braves may be interested in a CF trade?
