    Sporting Event Attending Etiquette

Discussing this with some friends while arranging a baseball week/get together.

What is the etiquette for wearing team related apparel to games?

Theres really one way I feel about jersey wearing that wasnt mentioned in the poll. NEVER wear sports gear during that sports offseason.

I always do. All my shirts are Met shirts, save for school shirts, 3 Obama shirts, a Red Sox shirt, a Phillies shirt, a Pirates shirt (which I can't find), and a couple of concert shirts.

Probably not one of the options they were discussing.

Yeah, I have an Utley shirt from my 2006 visit to Citizens Bank Park, my Red Sox shirt is a Ted Williams shirt from when I toured Fenway Park in 2007, and my Pirates McLouth shirt is from last summer when I went to PNC Park.

I wear Rockies stuff more then any one person ever should.

I also have a jersey shirt of Carl Yaztremski and Mickey Mantle (my two favorite past players)

I wore a Tulowitzki t-shirt to a Red Sox/Rangers game at Fenway the last time I visited my Uncle in Massachusetts.

I should have added the option of:

Wear your stuff to a game your team isn't playing in, but your team's rival is playing in. (IE your Dave Roberts Red Sox jersey to a Yankees vs Royals game)

    1) Wearing home team apparel is always appropriate.
    2) Wearing away team apparel, is appropriate assuming you are a fan of the away team, and either
    a) there is a legitimate sub-group of fans that will be attendance, so you will not die
    b) you are not going to Yankee Stadium
    3) Wearing your team's apparel to a game they are not playing in shows that you are a fan, and interested in MLB, but either do not intensely care about the two teams playing, or are simply lost.

My friend, a Phillies fan, wears his Phillies jerseys to all the Sox/Rays games we go to. It serves for comic relief; one game during the playoffs, when the phillies clinched, it was a quiet spot in the game and he was the only person in the stadium to stand up and scream "GO PHILLIES!". Gave the whole left field section quite a chuckle.

Yankees fans are animals (generalizing, I know) so I would not go into Yankee Stadium with an opposing team's apparel. Sox would get you beaten, anything else will just get objects, mostly food and drink, thrown at you.

I'm a lifelong Dodger fan and have a jersey, 2-3 Tshirts and about 5 Dodger hats. But I also have hats for about a dozen other MLB teams and 5-6 Tshirts for various teams, which I do wear on occasion. The hats I wear year round, summer or winter. You won't find any other NL West teams in my collection though.

    I have:

    1 Red Sox hat
2 White Sox hats that are about half the size of my head

I've looked everywhere for an Angels hat but it's not very easy to find them in Iowa..
Hmmm..I wonder if they have them at Cedar Rapids Kernels games..
    Gooo Angels!
