    Longer NFL Season?

Surprised no one has made a recent thread about this (unless I missed it).

What do you think about the potential to extend the regular season to 18 games? Is it necessary?

Outside of shortening the preseason to maybe three games, I like the schedule the way it is. I know this is all about maximizing profit, but adding two more games is really unneccesary.

Personally, I've never put on the pads and took a hit. But one can only think that this will lead to more wear and tear on the starter and marquee players.

Take away two pre-season games and I'm all for 18 regular season games.

    Its a bad idea.

Make no mistake the only reason for this is to try and OK the forcing of season ticket holder to pay the preseason games- to sum up money money money!

It an awful idea as team have a hard enough time keeping guys healthy as it is, while the NFL really has no interest in the long term health of its players, this will only serve to push guys to the edge an lead to more and more serious injuries.

The biggest issue is the preseason where coaches/team feel compelled to play star players that don't need to play in order to justify charging people the price they do for the game.

The CFL have done this for years: two pre-season games and off we go. Makes an inordinate amount of sense.

Cutting preseason games to me is irrelevant, so long as games are played by guys who need to show skills not regulars who dont need to be there and are them to show the fans why they paid 60$ to see a preseason game.

You have to think four games is a little out of control even with no stars.
