Alright guys, I am putting together the monthly thing. It will be replacing this post, so be sure to check in in about 45 minutes.
Opening Day: Haren Delivers
4.1.05
Mets Opening Day starter, Danny Haren proved why the Mets traded for the former Cardinal Ace. He went 8 innings, giving up only 2 runs, leading the Mets to a 6-2 victory. Richard Hidalgo helped out his cause, hitting a home run, and driving in 3.
Heilman Leads the Charge
4.2.05
The Met Ace last year proved he could be an Ace on any other team, just about, after carrying a shutout into the ninth inning, before being pulled for Billy Koch, who sealed the deal. Sheffield hit home run, and Pierre stole 2 more bases.
Mets Start on Fire!
4.10.05
The Mets are playing like a team with something to prove. They have come out of the gate, running. The Mets have started the season 10-0, lead by the great pitching from the rotation, and the timely hitting. Obviously, if the Mets can keep this up, they will lead the NL to a World Series Title.
Mets No Longer Undefeated
4.13.05
The Mets today lost their first game of the year, 6-4, to the Padres. For the first time this season, a Met starter did not make it through 5 innings. Heilman went 4 innings, giving up 5 runs. Reyes had a solo home run in the losing effort.
The Mets are now 12-1
Mets Lose to Champion Expos
4.17.05
The Mets lost their second game today, losing to the Santurce City Expos, 6-4. Dan Haren pitched great until the eighth inning, giving up 4 of his 5 total runs. Livan pitched 7 innings, giving up 3 runs for the Expos. Nick Johnson went 1-3, with an RBI double against his former mates.
Wright Homers, Wins Game for Mets
4.21.05
The Mets reigning Rookie of the Year hit a solo home run, scoring the only run of the game for either team. Brandon Webb gave up 4 hits through 7 innings, the lone run coming off of David Wright’s bat. Al Leiter went 7, shutting out the D-Backs before being pulled. Koch finished the shutout with his sixth save of the year.
Mets Shutout Third Team This Week
4.26.05
Leiter shutout the D-Backs through 7 innings before Heath Bell, and Billy Koch came in to finish it off. Two days later, the Mets beat up the Marlins, banging out 12 hits, while Heilman shut them down. Finally, the Mets Adam Eaton shutdown the Astros today, sealing there third shutout in the past week. The Mets are currently 19-4.
Mets Win in Blowout
4.30.05
The Mets beat the Marlins thanks to 13 runs being scored in the last 4 innings. Piazza, Pierre, and Hidalgo all homered, and Reyes hit his fifth double of the year. Dontrelle Willis pitched 7 shutout innings before he gave up 4 in the eighth, being pulled with 1 out.
Sorry for not posting this sooner. I ate me some lunch.
The monthly review will be up soon, hopefully. I was shocked by my monthly record. The only players I added in the offseason that are playing right now are Nick Johnson, Billy Koch, and Adam Eaton (due to injury).
Also, look for Piazza, and Hidalgo to be possibly dealt to a high payroll team. Piazza is asking to be the fifth highest paid player in the big leagues (16.5M), and Hidalgo is asking for over 10M, and quite frankly, I don't like paying the much for any player except maybe a favorite player of mine (Pujols, Hamilton, C.C.), or a player that is actually that good, and deserves that much.
APRIL IN REVIEW
New York Mets: 21-5, 2 Game Lead in NL East
AVG: Mike Piazza - .367
HR: Mike Piazza – 7
RBI: Mike Piazza - 28
SB: Juan Pierre - 17
W: Aaron Heilman, Dontrelle Willis - 4
ERA: Tom Glavine – 1.17
K: Dan Haren - 34
SV: Billy Koch - 7
I was honestly not expecting such a hot start from this team. We obviously have some good players, and after making the deal for Castillo, and Pierre last season, I knew we were set at the top of the lineup for at least 3 years.
The pitching has really surprised me. Through the first month of the season, our team is leading the MLB in ERA - despite Glavine getting injured after 3 starts (23 IP) - with a team ERA of 3 even.

At 9-17, the Fish, and Giants are tied for the worst record in the NL, and Kansas City has the worst record in the AL, and the MLB at 9-18.

No Big Names
Looking at the Farm System
I recently changed the names of my minor league teams. AAA: Jacksonville Miracle, AA: Orlando Naturals, A: Miami Marauders, R: Tampa Tigers.
In Jacksonville, Lastings is picking up where he left off last season. Milledge is hitting .309, with 4 Home Runs, and 21 RBI. Gomez is doing even better than Lastings, hitting .336, with 3 Home Runs, and 24 RBI. Gomez has still never been caught attempting to steal at any level in the minor leagues, he is 85/85. Gomez also stole 11 bags in the Spring, also never being caught. In Orlando, Yadier hit 2 Homers, and drove in 19 on his way to a .330 average and a call-up to Jacksonville.
Meanwhile, the pitching combo of Pelfrey, and Bannister has a combined ERA of 3.52, with 35 Ks, and 6 wins in 74 innings this season.
In Orlando, Joe Smith has an ERA of 3.33 in 27 innings, and Joba has an ERA of 1.78 in 25.1 innings. Lincecum has started 6 games going 2-2 with an ERA of 4.89 with 23 strikeouts.
Finally, in Miami, last year’s #4 overall pick, Yovani Gallardo, has started 6 games, going 0-2, with an ERA of 4.4, and 19 strikeouts.
yeah overturn it
Yea, due to the bad AI of some of these teams, I might have to start taking over, and trading the extra talent on some teams to help them out elsewhere, just to make the league as competetive as possible.
Mets Kill Fighting Phils
5.4.05
Jose Reyes doubled 3 times, Piazza homered twice, and Wright knocked 3 out to lead to the Mets to a huge 17-6 win over the division rival Phillies.
Heilman went six and a third allowing 10 base runners, 3 of which scored.
Oriole starter, J.A. Happ threw 96 pitches, and only got 1 out into the third inning. Happ gave up 12 earned runs, 9 hits, 4 walks, and 4 homers before finally getting pulled after just over 2 innings of work.
Braves Punish Mets
5.6.05
Two days after the beating they gave to Philadelphia, the Braves returned the favor to us. The Braves scored 5 in the sixth off of Braden Looper, and then scored 7 more in the eighth off of Heath Bell, who couldn’t even record an out.
The Mets were able to put 5 on the board, thanks in part to the triple by Pierre, and then back-to-back doubles an out later by Wright, and Piazza in the first.
Hidalgo Hits for Cycle as Mets Bulldoze White Sox
5.24.05
The Mets scored a season high 14 runs in their return home today. The White Sox could not pitch to the Mets without them hitting it. We had 21 hits today, and 7 walks, totaling for a season high 23 runs. The only White Sox pitcher who found out that throwing meat balls weren’t good was Scott Schoeneweis. Scott pitched an inning, and a third, and gave up 0 runs, 0 walks, and 1 hit.
On the pitching side of things, Danny Haren gave up 7 hits over 7 innings and fanned 9 White Sox.
Nothing good this month. Just huge wins, and a couple of losses, the only big one being posted. No walk off wins or anything fun to read about.
Be ready for some very unexpected headlines in the upcoming month.
Sorry it took about 2 days. I've been feeling really lazy. The monthly update will be posted in about 5 minutes.
APRIL IN REVIEW
New York Mets: 41-13, 10 Game Lead in NL East
AVG: Mike Piazza - .378
HR: Mike Piazza – 20
RBI: Mike Piazza - 63
SB: Juan Pierre - 34
W: Aaron Heilman, Dontrelle Willis - 7
ERA: Tom Glavine – 1.93
K: Aaron Heilman - 65
SV: Billy Koch - 12
I now realize that the trades I made at the deadline last year have greatly affected the team. With that said, I now realize that the first month wasn’t a fluke. This team is very good, period. Knowing that, there really isn’t anything I can say.
Glavine is still dominating with that ERA of his, Heilman is on the same strikeout pace as he was last season, Pierre doubled his steals, and Piazza is past being on fire. The only player one could argue is doing better than Mike is last year’s Triple Crown, and MVP, Prince Albert. If Mike isn’t careful though, he might hit himself right into a slump.

LEAGUE NOTES
Our team is still amazingly good; having 9 more wins than any team in professional baseball. The AL’s best two teams are the two sitting atop the AL East at 32-22, Boston, and Toronto.
At 17-39, Kansas City is the embarrassing team in the big leagues.
Trades
Boston and KC swapped first basemen. Kevin Youkilis (77/92) is heading to Missouri, in return, Boston is receiving the Royals Mike Sweeney (85).
If you think any of these deals should be overturned, let me know. 3 Either way, for, or against it, decides the trade’s fate!
