Actually, they had to move Cassel...after signing Fred Taylor, they had zero cap room. Now that they unload Cassel's $14.65 million franchise tender, AND Vrabel's approximately $3.5 million, they have room again. And 3 2nd round picks doesn't suck, either.

Now, is it possible they MAYBE could have landed a late 1st if they waited a bit longer? Possibly...though I thought the most likely suitor would have been the Vikings, and they apparently felt that Sage Rosenfels was the chosen one.

Also, Skins cut Jason Taylor. Snyder really needs to sell that team. And the Panthers really need to sign Taylor so they can trade Peppers

Ugh. Gene has it almost right. I mean everything but pointing out Cutler's losing record. Just because Jay's team wasn't/isn't still very good doesn't mean its his fault. Plus, for only his SECOND full season Cutler is a serious rising star.

But Gene has it right. Shut the **** up Jay.

I love the fact that it comes out now that Cutler ASKED for a trade first...then he whines like a pathetic little b*tch when he almost gets traded...yeah, great guy. Of course, I can understand his wanting out, what with his one big time receiver's habit of getting arrested.

And I just love the Skins. They make a bunch of big flashy moves...that are completely counteracted by all the guys they had to cut to make them. Way to spin your wheels, boys.

And yes, Derrick Ward is a Buc...4 years $17 mil. Housh goes to the Seahawks of all teams...apparently giving up a 1st and a ton of money to the immortal Deion Branch has taught them nothing about overvaluing a wideout.

    Cutler asked for a trade?

It wouldn't surprise me the guy was attached to Mike Shanahan like nobody's business and he probably wanted to go to a organization that wouldn't "blindside" him.

Cutler is a great player...not a good person. The Broncos are having some personnel issues and pretty soon...they might need to rebuild.

The Broncos under Bowlen have usually been one of the more professionally run teams in the game. They win games consistently not having too many losing seasons and Bowlen not tolerating a bad team too long. If Cutler and Marshall get anymore out of hand...they could be shipped out and the team could start from scratch.

Yeah, when his QB coach from last year went elsewhere, he apparently asked to be traded.

Well with Brandon Marshall just waiting for the Goddell Hatchet to cut his season down. I wonder what Cutler will do.

Marshall had the charges dropped but I could see a 3 game suspension coming for ol Brandon.

Apparently, the Vikings are interested in Jay but what do they have to offer? Tavaris Jackson? HELL NO.

As a young coach you want to build your own QB, a la Atlanta Falcons, but I think Mcdaniels would make a mistake trading him to Minnesota for draft picks alone.

Charges dropped, cause him and his fiancee didn't want to testify against each other. Yeah....that'll go over well for him with Goddell. 4th arrest in 3 years. I would say welcome to a 8 game suspension Brandon.
I'm not sure why everyone thinks Cutler is this great quarterback. He reminds me of a talkier version of Jake Plummer. Which would make him overrated. I never liked Cutler in college and he is playing out pretty much the same in the NFL. Great games followed by horrible mistake ridden games.

I would have to say his arm strength and big play ability make him a better QB talent then Jake Plummer.

He's inconsistent...but young. Many quarterbacks are at a young age. He has shown talent. Tossing for over 4,000 yards this season and leading one of the top offenses in the NFL. If he can get his mistakes down he can be elite. He has a tremendous arm and decent accuracy. He's, right now, a poor man's Brett Favre with a big mouth. He needs to mature and stop being a gunslinger but his big play ability and arm trumps Plummer's.

Considering he just finished up his second full season I think people should reserve judgment on such a youngster on his inconsistent play...young QB's are. A Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan or Big Ben don't come around often.

Philip Rivers entered his huge breakout year this year, his third full season, which normal great QB's do.

Agreed, except that Plummer with his gunslinger attitude...Won games from college into the pros.
We'll see, I don't like the whining he is doing right now....but then again. Even Favre became a whiner last year.
You mention Rivers too..Two young quarterbacks who do a lot of talking without really showing that they are in the Elite. They just kind of visit it and stay for awhile, but fall to earth quickly.

I would have to say Rivers really broke out this season after maturing and shutting his mouth. I think Norv Turner had a talk with him after last season because Rivers really matured and his play showed it.

Winning games isn't the best way to judge a QB. Cutler's team has been mediocre nearly his entire career. Vanderbilt he was the only pro talent. Now with the Broncos the defense has been god awful his entire career.

Cutler played well this year, he just needs to limit the turnovers.

See this is where I will differ.
Winning games is what I think the top ways to judge a QB. Now i'm not talking about game managers with great defenses (Trent Dilfer). I'm talking quarterbacks who win games. The only year I was impressed with him in college was the last. Last year he started like hellfire and I was ready to change my mind, but then he slid down and started making too many mistakes. Also saying that he needs to limit turnovers...well I mean that is what everyone needs to do. Until then, he is just somewhere in the 2nd tier of QB's to me.
As far as Rivers, I think them losing in the playoffs the year before was a kick in his ribs.
But Cutler is young, like I said though I just hate whiners.

Just curious, do judge pitcher success by wins as well?
