I would think the Orioles would be better served trying to trade Roberts for prospects..but I suppose they've already tried that and couldn't get anything done.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.
If the Orioles really wanted to improve by getting rid of someone, then the guy to trade/waive/kick in the balls is Peter Angelos. Until he's gone, the Orioles will suck. As happy as that has made me over the past few seasons (because they claim the Nats TV revenues as THEIRS, so I've hoped they'd lose 162 a year lately) it is sad for a franchise with such a tradition to suck so badly for so long. But unless Angelos goes, they'll continue to suck. At least I think they will.
Seems like quite a bit for an older second basemen, but it's still a good deal if he can stay healthy and doesn't fall off a cliff.
Part of it is, we've had 12+ years of "prospects" and nothing's happening. Larry Bigbie: "The Answer" in left field! Sidney Ponson: "The Answer" at pitcher! I'd like to see someone not named Ripken (or, okay, Melvin Mora) stick around for a while and provide some kind of a nucleus. As it is, it's like getting a whole set of furniture from Goodwill every two years.

Agreed... seems like his value is at it highest right now and they'd be able to get something of value for him since they're probably not contending anytime soon. Build around Jones, Markakis, and Wieters. At the same time, I'm happy for fans like oriole^ that he's staying in Baltimore.
