Its hard to count maddux because he ent play all his career here... I know Aaron left too but that was different. Only abut 1/2 his career was with Atlanta. Then again he did win 4 (I think 4) consecutive cy youngs as a brave and spend th ebest 10 years of his career there

That is why he counts. Outside of his Braves career, he only had one amazing season (the year right before he came to Atlanta). 4 seasons as a good starter but not near the top of the league (1988-1991), and then a multitude of roughly league average pitching after he left Atlanta. In Atlanta, he was one of the best pitchers of all-time for 10 years.

If we offered 4/ $40 I would hope Chipper kindly decline and then become a DH. He deserves more than that.

I dont think he would honestly. He didnt REALLY give us a team friendly contract... ho tool a paycut but it also made his team options guarenteed. That was the deal.
I dont think he is getting more that 10-12 per year. He no longer plays 150+ games a season. They are not giving $15 a year to a 110-125 aging star. who is going to pay someone that much $$$ Abreu just got $5, Roberts just got 10 for 4 years, Burrel 8 million, Dunn 10 million, Bradley 10 million, Etc... noone is getting that much $$$ anymore. Everyone one of those players is less injury risk and younger than Chipper as well.
