Which Radio Sports Guy do you listen to?

Im just curious. I listen to Dan Patrick, really only because I hate him less than Jim Rome, but they are both idiots. I liked Tony Bruno back in the day, but he isnt on the radio anymore, (or at least where I live).

Rome (if you listen with the intent of getting inundated with sports, then you need to step back & take it as entertainment with some sports references thrown in)

    PMS (Petros is the man!)

When I'm listening to the radio in the morning, it's either mike & mike (my least favorite, just so many commercials and sportsceneter updates), colin cowherd or dan patrick (prefer cowherd the most out of this group, but it's just cause he doesn't hold back what his opinions are)

gametime react w/ jt the brick & looney is on late & is pretty good (jt reminds me of cowherd a little)

local guy bomani jones is pretty good too

haha, this is one of the positives of the area i live in, 3 stations that are just sports talk

Dan Patrick's usually pretty entertaining...and I usually flip the radio at the shipping desk over to Jim Rome for his show, just to get away from the 'same old, same old' cliche rock coming from every damn radio in the building all day.

I have XM too, even though I never listen to the MLB channel or sports talk radio except for games during the season.

only reason I have XM is for the Braves... now that their deal is up with TBS

Re: Which Radio Sports Guy do you listen to?

    I like this thread...

    I listen to alot of broadcasters, and there are good and bads with all;

    - Jim Rome: I don't hear him alot anymore, and frankly most of his show sucks but he gives the BEST interviews for the most part. I'm not talking about the Jim Everett type, what I mean is that he asks the best questions, and will often break away from the scripted questions to go deeper into an area. He seems to get more from his guests and asks much better questions.

    - Mike & Mike: Say what you want, these two are HOF'ers, and the best in the business. They may not have the best show, but who has ever been bigger? They've made quite a name for themselves nationally, and often are very entertaining.

    - Colin Cowherd: Now this guy is my personal favorite. I think he's hilarious at times, has a similar mind as mine, goes against conventional wisdom often....my only knock is his bread and butter is college football and I really don't care for that much.

    - Erik Casillius: Spelling is surely wrong, but this guy is 1A after Cowherd. The two are very similar but Erik does less college football. Very entertaining.

    - Dan Patrick: I honestly have always disliked his show. I don't find his humor that funny often, its too scripted for my liking. I find his interviews terrible as he seems to only ask scripted questions. The interviewer might as well not be live and pre-record the answers, because he never goes back and digs into the answers. When he left the EST 1:00PM ESPN slot, I was hoping that Cowherd would get it. Instead they gave it to the little black guy with the coke bottle glasses, I don't recall his name but he's quite unlistenable. Just terrible in fact.

    - Mike and the Mad Dog: In Connecticut, there are really two sports talk channels for the most part I got, ESPN Radio and WFAN. So Mike and the Mad Dog is a show I listened to for many years. I don't like either, but loath the Dog. He rode Francesca's coat tails, pretty much always agreed with whatever he said. He was also annoying as he!l, often wrong and couldn't admit it. Francesca is a know it all, who cuts his listeners off very quickly and really just sucks. The show does give good interviews though. It has lost something with Mad Dog now gone....but was never great to begin with.

    - WEEI: I don't get signal enough to know all the show hosts, but when I do, being a Red Sox fan I listen to them. I like how they venture away from sports often into the political and current event arena. There are quite a few however I find to be annoying and often wrong, but I do like how they allow their listeners to stay on the air for a very long time during call-ins and debate an issue.

    - Sirius NFL Network: Don't listen to it often, but these guys get NFL players for long clips in interviews and they are often outstanding. If you couldn't tell already, I enjoy the interviews very much....those that really are insightful. The best part of the NFL Network is their interviews. I hear the same about the new MLB Network but haven't watched it yet.

Jim Rome (been listening since 1996) and PMS in the evenings (Petros Papadakis & Matt "Money" Smith). Both local, nationally-syndicated programs out here in LA.

Re: Which Radio Sports Guy do you listen to?

Colin Cowherd "goes against conventional wisdom often" because he's one of multiple ESPN personalities who take "out there" stances just for the purpose of "stirring **** up." It's like when Steve Phillips claimed in 2006 or something that Cliff Lee was the best lefty in the AL (hello Johan Santana). Many of the ESPN personalities say things that "go against conventional wisdom", which often times border on downright idiotic and sometimes ARE downright idiotic, for the purpose of creating reaction.

On the topic of radio personalities, though, I don't listen to any. To me, the only thing worse than listening to a bunch of blowhards yell at the top of their lungs at me is watching and listening them yell at the top of their lungs at me on television.
