Great point, especially considering the M's have employed Jose Vidro and Carl Everett as the primary DH the past three years.

Read that again so it sinks in. Jose Vidro and Carl Everett as the primary DH the past three years.

As an M's fan, I'll take Griffey against RHPs gladly.

Let's just pray he doesn't flop. Please!

Guys, Griffey will have a standing ovation every single time he comes to the plate this year. It would be neat if on opening day he would trot out to center field. I think with the fans behind him, one last fire will errupt in Griffey. I can only dream of him beating Bonds' record.
I feel like a little kid again. Griffey was by far my favorite player when I was young. I always felt like when he was on the field, it was him verses little leaguers. He made it look so easy.

Reports are that this was just rumors and that Griffey isn't close to signing.

What I heard on 950 KJR, is that Griffey is saying that he doesn't know anything about it, but his agent is talking with the Mariners, really nothing has changed. Griffey doesn't have the time to do a physical yet because of prior engagements (golfing tournment)

I think it would be kinda neat to see him to go back to Seattle to finish.

In a way it would be sad because he doesn't have many chances left at a ring and going to Seattle is about the worst place he could go for that.

True, but the fact is nobody else has any need for him, or at least not more than the Mariners sadly. Seattle will sign either GA or Griffey and given the 2 choices it seems logical that Griffey would be their #1 choice.

very true....i do it on purpose when a griffey conversation starts because I know way too many griffey fans who throw accusations and condemn players like Bonds, Clemens, and the like yet refuse to even consider the possibility Griffey may have juiced. There is more circumstantial evidence against Griffey in fact than many players. Griffey & Bonds are said to be close (related in fact if i'm not mistaken) and have discussed roids after McGwires big year.

I'm just a Griffey hater, mainly because I hate how the media built him up as an untouchable god while destroying Bonds ever before the roids issue even surfaced.

Bonds and Griffey are not related, if that is true, than that is news to me, do you have a link about this?

As for Bonds and Griffey, the only thing they have in common is that Bonds ruled the NL, and Griffey ruled the AL. Both were different types of players when they first came out. As Griffey got older, his line drives turned into home runs. When Griffey was younger he would hate to be called a home run hitter, he was strictly a line drive hitter. The only other thing they have in common is that their dads played in the MLB.

What is said to have happened in 1997-99 was Bonds and Griffey had a conversation and Bonds said that he was about to try these steroids. Griffey declined and the rest is history. Griffey was the best player in the 90's and by far the most popular player in the 90's. Bonds is probably the best hitter of all time with his 2001-2004 peak. The one thing that Bonds always did better than Griffey was Bonds has a great eye and has consistently put up better numbers than Griffey in terms of OBP and OPS, and of course several other stats, Griffey hit home homeruns by age then Bonds...until the Cinci years.

Saying Griffey did steroids is nonsense but saying he was part of the Steriod Era isn't. IF there is proof then I said castrate him, but since there isn't then he is innocent until proven guilty. When Griffey played in Seattle he was an ass to the fans, media and ownership, he was a prema-donna. The kid played the game right, if you like that or not, then that is your problem.

I love how this supposed "conversation" that they had about steroids seems to be common knowledge to everybody, even though they were not there to witness the conversation.
