How many people believe that all this was just a coincidence, right in time for the Bonds trial?

Ya think it's a coincidence that both this and the A-Rod leak are happening all a couple of weeks before the Bonds trial? I sure don't. In fact, I can almost see this as an orchestrated operation in order to bolster the opening and closing statements of the Bonds prosecutors. Rather than refer to lies about a raid five years ago, the prosecutor can stand up and say "this was no innocent lie! The headlines in just the past month show that the scourge of steroids is as rampant as ever! Like A-Rod and Tejada, Bonds is a ballplayer who thinks he's above the law and worked to thwart an important government investigation!"

And consider this: Tejada isn't accused of lying about this own possible steroid use. Rather, prosecutors say he lied when he told Congressional investigators, during an interview in a Baltimore hotel room, that he didn't know about any other players using steroids. Gonzales and Schlozman, by contrast, are suspected of lying to conceal their own involvement in politicizing DOJ.

It's hard not to conclude that if federal investigators went after former DOJ officials as hard as they went after ball players, the world would be a better place.

How silly. I mean, steroids and other drugs could even hurt one's performance on the field, right? Maybe these superstars were just doing it for, you know, the extra challenge. And lying - well, it's not lying - it's refusing to take credit! We should give everyone free passes and disbelieve any reports, accept any apologies, and immediately move on and ignore any perceived 'wrongdoing'.

Disagree? Screw you! You've never even played major league baseball. You know how hard it is? It's...it's hard! It's not garbageman hard, or NASA hard, or heck even like farming hard - but it's hard! And stressful. Lots of travel, and competition. And those bats can break! You can get a splinter in your eye, and then you're dead meat!

Personally, I think this is a great opportunity for Vince McMahon to develop an Extreme League Baseball (XLB) franchise - I'm thinking 8 teams, where the players can all take whatever substances they want, no rules, no holds barred. Bats aren't made out of maple, which can splinter - they're literally made of metal, for maximum impact. But every 100th bat, actually has an explosive inside! Be careful!! Wrestling meets baseball, on a diamond near you this Spring!!

I suppose after that last post this would be a bad time to ask the question "If steroids are supposed to make great ballplayers, why aren't MLB scouts all over the WWE, or WWF, or WWC, or whatever the hell the initials are now?"

I wonder if he had to state his birthday. Because they could nab him there too.

I believe it is very hard to stay competitive in major league baseball, much less remain cosistently elite in your era. The work regime, the hours, the physical hardships, the high likelyhood that you don't even make it to the majors, the forced early retirements etc and all the sacrifices the players have to make.

Honestly, I think steriod use or not, it is pointless for it to matter. I don't care if a player takes steriods to get better....that's me. It may be bad for the player's health etc and I guess you can say it doesn't keep the playing field level but to say that the only players that truley cheated are the greatest of this error is ridiculous. They are the one's who take the bad rap because they are in the spotlight the most here. I am just waiting for the day when this is no longer talked about and we can move onto baseball in the spring.

    Re: Tejada

If they were coming after him for lying about his own usage...fine. You don't lie to the Feds, and any player too arrogant and stupid to realize they WILL come after your ass if you do (just like they go after just about anyone else dumb enough to do so) deserves what they get.

However, this is just bizarre...they're charging him with lying willfully about the actions of other people? Ummm...what?
