    Ramifications?

I think we can count on attendance going down this year. And you know what? The Players Association has broken the collective bargaining agreement. It's payback time for collusion. Think the owners can go to arbitration and try to pin the downturn in attendance on the PA?

    Link.

But, what does that have to do with attendance, collusion, and arbitration? And how can the owners use a "downturn in attendance" during arbitration when the season hasn't even begun?

Nevermind. I'll just refer to this thread when the question arises down the line if the owners can sue for damages if they can prove the actions of the Players Association in this matter has damaged the owners income.

Or you can refer to this thread when people ask you if drugs are OK.

Just as a question of fact, I'd say it would be very difficult to prove that the Players' Association tipping players off to upcoming drug tests had any impact at all on attendence.

Especially considering that attendance has been RISING throughout this period...

Face it, increased offense, which may or may not have been driven or partially driven by widespread steroid use, loaded the game with cash. The owners loved it. MLB used these roided up stars to suck every penny they could from the public, and then when Congress put the heat on, started caring about the "integrity of the game."

    Re: Ramifications?

How on earth can you prove that MLBPA tipping off players on random drug tests 6 years ago had a direct impact on 2009 attendance figures? Man, some of the crap people come up with on this forum amazes me sometimes.
