Also, if anybody can, if the A-Rod/Gammons interview is put up online somewhere, would you be kind enough to post a link here? I'd like to watch it but I'll be in class when it's airing on ESPN.

This is not an interview link, but A-Rod did admit to using steroids from 2001-2003.

Typical canned and rehearsed statement with not much substance to it
Curt Schilling: Name all 104 positives, not just A-Rod
Thought this was hilarious:
Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, said the purported disclosure shouldn't cause a loss of confidence in the program's confidentiality.
"2003 tests were supposed to be confidential. For whatever reason test results were not destroyed as they were supposed to have," he said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. "Since then, positives have been identified. I am comfortable [the] program is operated currently as it should be."
How can it not cause a loss of confidence??!!

That was a decent article, HGM. It was an interesting take on the subject, but...

I listen to a lot of sports talk radio (and there's no shortage of big-mouthed blow-hards calling in to those shows), and I never hear anything quite as ridiculous as "player should risk life or health for game."

And like I said, lose-lose situation. Damned if he admits it, damned if he denies it.
You've never heard people accuse players of being pussies because they didn't play through injury? You've never heard people mention that Pete Rose sliding incident as evidence of his great hustle and praise him for it? Maybe people don't explicitly say that they want players to "risk their life for the game", but it's unquestionable that players that go all out and slide into walls and risk their health in an effort to win are praised, while those that shy away from that (think Bobby Abreu) get criticized for it.Originally Posted by Street Medic

He said exactly what I expected him to say so I second my notion that it was a 'typical canned and rehearsed statement without much substance to it'.
If you want to believe that he spoke completely off the cuff without preparing a statement or if you think that his statement revealed earth shattering insight into the mind of A-Rod or what goes on behind the scenes in major league baseball then good for you.
But don't put words into my mouth please
That out of the way. I give him credit for his admission rather than lying about it.
Since he admitted to it can we forget this like with Jason Giambi and Andy Pettite. He was then and still is my favorite player.
And maybe A-Rod is damned for doing the deed in the first place and how he reacts to being found out is completely irrelevant.
I can actually imagine why he did it though. He said he started in 2001 which was the first season of that 252 million dollar contract. I guess he wanted to perform like he was worth the 252 million dollars. At least thats my opinion on it.
Or it makes a good story...but who knows...
If the Yanks play in DC while I'm there, I'm still given' A-Rod hell
