sweet, 10 more than in real life!
RSR, boomboom: Yeah, 50 home runs was nice, but it would help if the rest of the team performed better. From a wild card team in '99 to a sub-.500 team? It's never good to be moving backward.

LEAGUE NOTES
Carlos Beltran (35 HR/33 SB) and Mike Cameron (32 HR/33 SB) joined the 30/30 Club this season. Perhaps the scariest part about that is that Beltran is only 23 years old…
John Burkett led the Majors with a 2.67 ERA at the age of 35. Skeptics are wondering if he’s clean…
Craig Biggio rapped his 2000th hit.
Albert Belle, Wally Joyner, Larry Walker, and Steve Finley scored their 1000th runs.
Rafael Palmeiro hit his 400th career home run.
Ellis Burks drove in his 1000th RBI.
Brady Anderson swiped his 300th steal.
Hitting streaks ended in September:
Manny Ramirez – 22
Jose Canseco – 21

PLAYOFF PREVIEW: DIVISION SERIES
St. Louis Cardinals (102-60) v. San Francisco Giants (90-72)
The Cardinals cruised to the best record in baseball, thanks to Jim Edmonds, rookie Albert Pujols, and the best pitching staff in the Majors. San Francisco boasts the 4-headed monster of Jeff Kent, Barry Bonds, Ellis Burks, and Rich Aurilia.
PREDICTION: St. Louis in 3. They’re not the best in the game for nothing, folks.
Florida Marlins (95-67) v. Los Angeles Dodgers (91-71)
The Marlins are a young, exciting team with a good mixture of speed (Luis Castillo’s 48 steals) and power (Derrek Lee’s 40 homers). The Dodgers survived the NL West thanks to Sheffield, Beltre, and some timely pitching.
PREDICTION: Los Angeles in 5. Although the Marlins are the feel-good story, they’re not ready for the big time. Yet.
Cleveland Indians (95-67) v. Seattle Mariners (89-73)
The Indians had the best record in the AL, thanks to the big bats of Richie Sexson, Jim Thome, and Manny Ramirez. Seattle boasts 7 players with 15+ HR, and midseason acquisition Luis Gonzalez has sparked the offense.
PREDICTION: Cleveland in 5. The offenses cancel each other out, and the Indians are that much better on the mound.
Oakland Athletics (93-69) v. Toronto Blue Jays (88-74)
Toronto had 3 players hit 40+ HR this season, but it was enough to help them survive the AL East. Oakland boasts a more well-rounded attack, with 8 players in double figures for HR.
PREDICTION: Oakland in 4. Their rotation of Hudson, Appier, Zito, and Loaiza prove to be too good for Toronto.
**
Let's go Blue.
Just curious what's Griff's health rating?
what were albert's rookie numbers?
filihok: I took the 'liberty' of adjusting a few of Griffey's settings to 'create a more realistic environment' (read: favorable settings). I changed his peak age to 33 (a more realistic number than the in-game 31). I also upped his longevity from 90 to 100 (again, to make him more 'average' than normal). His default health in-game is an 85, so I just kept that.
Jeffy: Albert really came on in the 2nd half, finishing the season with a .343 average, 24 home runs, and 110 runs batted in. Will he win the Rookie of the Year Award? I'll let you know after the playoffs!

A LOOK BACK (at the LDS) AND A LOOK AHEAD (at the LCS)
LDS RESULTS:
Seattle beats Cleveland, 3-2; Mariners rally from a 0-2 deficit to avenge loss in ’95 ALCS.
Oakland beats Toronto, 3-1; after losing Game 1, A’s prove to be too strong for Jays.
St. Louis beats San Francisco, 3-1; a hiccup in Game 3 is nothing to worry about.
Florida beats Los Angeles, 3-2; up 2-0, Marlins survive Dodger comeback to hang on.
LCS PREVIEW:
St. Louis Cardinals v. Florida Marlins
PREDICTION: St. Louis in 5.
The Cardinals have their rotation lined up, and look to be unstoppable on the way to the World Series. Guess who their DH will be? (Hint: rhymes with Fark Lickwire…)
Oakland Athletics v. Seattle Mariners
PREDICTION: Oakland in 6.
In this matchup of AL West teams, I have to defer to the regular season results. Hence, edge to Oakland.
WORLD SERIES, HERE WE COME!
LCS RECAP
NLCS: Cardinals beat Marlins, 4-0. St. Louis sweeps Sushi in systematic series.
ALCS: Mariners beat Athletics, 4-1. City of Seattle: Take that, Junior!
WORLD SERIES PREVIEW
If anyone can stop the St. Louis express, it’s Seattle. Unfortunately, that won’t happen.
PREDICTION: ST. LOUIS IN 5 GAMES
MVP: Albert Pujols (you're welcome, Jeffy!)

Not a good season for the Reds but a good season of dynasty writing for you POC keep up the good work!
RSR, Coach: Well, if that's the case, I guess the Mariners don't have to win the World Series...
Duck: Thanks! Let's hope season 2 is better, both in wins and in writing!

AND THE WINNER IS…
Trailing 3-1, the St. Louis Cardinals had their backs against the wall. But, as they had done all year, they never gave up. Led by World Series MVP Jim Edmonds (.440, 2 HR), the Cards rallied to take Game 5 in St. Louis, then won twice in a row in Seattle to complete a most improbable comeback.
The St. Louis Cardinals are World Series Champions!
Beautiful, but we don't want Belliard back haha![]()
