Panthers traded next year's first to get Brown in the 2nd as well (also got a 4th this year from the Niners too)

The Panther's thinking: Every year just trade next years' first rounder for a pick this year

The Chiefs need to trade up and get a 2nd

    Fighting with Denver?

Denver made one questionable move, imo. With two first round picks in 2010 McDaniels and company decided to make the move to grab a corner early in Alphonso Smith I don't see that as questionable as drafting what some would say was the fifth best wideout in the draft with the #7 overall pick and then drafting a kid no one had on their radar.

Sure, first round for second round doesn't sound as good but the draft is an entire crapshoot. The Broncos should land upper middle first round again (11-15 most likely) and anything the Seahawks draft there could bust.

The Moreno pick is questionable because it was not a need based pick but a "best available talent that McDaniels liked" pick. Sure, anyone would have loved Everette Brown or Cushing or Maualuga or someone but honestly, getting a playmaker in the backfield isn't HORRIBLE. Especially considering we didn't have a consisten playmaker last year.

Even barring injury the Broncos backfield wasn't that big of a playmaking backfield (didn't need to be with Cutler, Marshall, and Royal) but now without Cutler the backfield needs to be the base and with Moreno (if he pans out) it can add a huge weapon out of the backfield.

Orton isn't a big play quarterback even with weapons in Marshall and Royal and improving the backfield was neccessary, albeit NOT A PRIORITY in the first round.

The Broncos addressed many needs after the Moreno pick but I don't see it as even close to what the Raiders did.

Super happy about Seattle's day. Unger, future first & Curry. Even if all 3 of these picks somehow bust, you can't blame Seattle's thinking.

I would say though that the Raiders easily had the worst day. Both picks were HUGE reaches. Even if you buy in to the Raiders knowing more about these players than we do why couldn't they have just traded down? Those guys would've been on the board much later.

Maybe Al Davis thought that Crabtree would fall to the fourth or fifth round since he never ran the 40.

As good of a day as the Seahawks had, I think the 49ers & Cardinals were just as good which isn't good to hear. 49ers picked up the best WR in the draft, although they still don't have a very good QB so I'm not to worried about them in this next year, but Arizona with a legitimate running game is pretty scary. I didn't stick around to watch much of the 2nd round, but I'm sure they got 2 other quality picks as well.

How did Detroit do in your opinion?

I think they would've been better off trading down and addressing other needs, but I think picking up a franchise QB and the best TE in the draft is pretty good considering. At first I was skeptical of the Stafford pick, but once they get that kid ready he'll have a great #1 WR and hopefully a top TE which will make his job much easier.

Any QB with talent with Calvin Johnson will do good. It's the defense that allowed 517 points that will kill them again.

I don't see another 0-16 but I don't see more then three wins.

After drafting Curry, Seahawks withdraw franchise tag from LB Leroy Hill making him a free agent

Weird, weird move...what is Seattle doing here? It looked like Curry was going to step right in for Peterson, giving them 3 quality linebackers again. Then they do this. What?

I've been impressed by the draft the Bengals have had, actually. They get themselves a tackle, they get Maualuga in round 2, Michael Johnson's a worthy 'roll of the dice' type in the third round, and I've read good things about the center they drafted, too. Of course, it's all for nothing for this year if they actually roll in to the season starting Cedric Benson at running back.
