...... She has talent. More then Mercury. I do not like her, but she is a better singer then Mercury. Keep this in the other thread.

I usually can't stand pregame anthem singers, but I was quite impressed with the job she did.

    Re: Jennifer Hudson...

I have to disagree. I thought Jennifer Hudson was rather average with the national anthem. She can sing way better than she did tonight... so can a lot of other singers. I've actually heard better versions of this song at random regular season MLB games, and even at junior college football games.

There were a couple of missed/bad notes and several instances of awful annunciation.

    Re: Jennifer Hudson...

btw I thought tehy did a TERRIBLE job. absolutly BEAUTIFUL voices but I waled into the room when faith was singing it and she was streatching out out sooo much it took about 4 lines before I even realized what it was. and the antham was fluffed as well. I wish these people actualy knew HOW to sing the anthem. its disgracefull when they insult it like that and do not sing it properly

Actually, the dirty little secret is that that's how those performances are TYPICALLY done.

She has a beautiful voice. No question. I am just tired of our Anthem becoming an R&B song to sell more records. It should be sung straight up with out all the rhythm and falsettos.

exactly. Singing in a stadium supposedly is the most difficult venues and most of these performances are pre-recorded. I don't see how a concert could be...so I don't know if Springsteen was. I really don't see how it could be...but a single song, those are very often pre-recorded.

I believe it is something to do with the speed of sound, going through the speaker system and getting back to the singer, it has a short delay and really screws up the singer. Thats why when you see singers with an ear piece and holding it to their ear, they are trying to listen to the song in their ear piece as it has no delay or echo and they stay with that beat. I could be wrong on all that, but thats my understanding of it anyhow.

Yep, from what I know of it (which is admittedly quite limited) that is the main reason. I think the Springsteen show was probably authentic and live...he's used to playing big venues like that with all the inherent issues.
