Red Sox
I don't understand how there are so many Red Sox fans in in America to be honset. They were underdogs to the overly hated Yankees for a long time, and now they win. I just don't understand how so many people love them though. I dunno,
Winners attract fans. That isn't hard to understand, is it? Its true, not only in all sports, but in all areas of life in general.
For the record though, I grew up in New England. The first sports team I liked as a kid was the Red Sox, and I have been a fan for over 30 years.
Ya, that's annoying that you get "flack" for that. I was an Ozzie fan, and was always a shortstop, thus my love for the Cardinals....and geographically it wasn't hard to go see them play, it was an obvious win-win for me.
After he retired, my fandom continued through players that I had seen play with Ozzie, such as Oquendo, Pagnozzi, etc. And has eventually led me to where I am today, still a large Cards fan...and now I live even closer to St. Louis.
It's easy to become a fan of the team your favorite player plays for. If Ozzie had stayed in San Diego, I would likely be a Padres fan today.
