I honestly did not know about this rule. I guess that puts the whole Manny thing to bed.

I guess this could fall under, what I have learned today.
naw, i don't think a salary cap will A.) ever be put into place, and B.) ever seriously be discussed.
mlb.com is actually wrong about this:
I can't find the rule right now, but I am pretty positive, as in 99% that the Yankess are allowed four this offseason because the number of type a's and b's are over 62, since they are 64, the amount annies up one. I may be wrong, but that is what I always thought the rule was. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
excellant article
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are .
rulesIf only 0-14 players in all of Major League Baseball file for free file for free agency, no team may sign more than one "Type A" or "Type B" player (terms defined below).
If 15-38 players file for free agency, no team may sign more than 2 such free agent players.
If 39-62 players file for free agency, no team may sign more than 3 such free agent players.
If 63 or more players file for free agency, then there are no such limits applied. Furthermore, a team may sign as many type A and B free agents as it has lost, regardless of the limits above.

how were the Giants able to sign Jeremy Affeldt (B), Bob Howry (A), Randy Johnson (B), Edgar Renteria (A), and Juan Uribe (B)?
Just saw that question. Seriously how did the GIants do it?

apparently the Yankees and I'm guessing the Giants can sign nine? What?![]()
Okay I guess there were 216 FA that filed or something close to that number so they changed the quota. The article I read earlier had that number much lower so there's our answer.

And I thought the NFL had needlessly confusing free agency rules...
I never knew that rule existed
This is so confusing
Gooo Angels!
