    Papelbon

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are .

Like that Pujols is given a lil credit by this guy. And I will agree everytime I have heard Pap speak he sounds like he just graduated third grade and has no parent to discipline him. He may be dominant though, and that is all that really matters. If he is a jerk, so what? he is brought in to pitch, he isn't dating my daughter so I don't really care about his attitude.

He was funny as heck on Letterman after the '07 world series win. David Ortiz impression was priceless.

I'll agree he is a bit of a prima donna with the money stuff, the attitude, the wanting to close in the all-star game (although the NY fans were the jerks in that one). And he did let his dog chew up the 2007 world series gameball. Sad. He does not seem that bright, I'll agree - and I have met bright people from Louisiana.

But the goofball dancing, the good closer's mentality...he wants to go out there and close out games. And he was okay with becoming a closer, even thought he wanted to start (probably for the money). Many of the games I've been to he's been out signing caps, balls, etc for fans in the outfield, tossing them back up. All around, not a horrible guy.

I don't see him staying in Boston past his arbitration years, but that's okay with me.

I have met him before, and he is really nice and generous. At an autograph thing run by the Jimmy Fund that I went too, he ignored the signing limit and signed extra stuff for everyone, and took time to talk. Sure, he is wild, but he is a great guy IMO

I fail to see how being opinionated makes one a jerk or a jackass.

If it does, I embrace being a nice combo...the jerkass.
