    Amatuer draft successes

When was the last time a player went directly from the amatuer draft to the majors? I am doing a dynasty in 93, drafted a-rod....needed a shortstop and sort all sent him directly....just curious when this happened last. I couldn't find anything.

I can't recall when the last time it was that a player went directly to the majors after the draft, but Ryan Zimmerman is probably the most recent example of a player making the majors and succeeding (and staying up for good) in the same year he was drafted.

while it was pre-draft days Carl Scheib was signed out of high school to pitch for the A's. Joe Nuxhall did the same but spend years in the minore after his debut.

I'd love to know the deal that made this happen
May 7, 1954: Sent to the St. Louis Cardinals by the Philadelphia Athletics as part of a conditional deal.

June 1, 1954: Returned by the St. Louis Cardinals to the Philadelphia Athletics as part of a conditional deal.

June 1, 1954: Released by the Philadelphia Athletics.

Not sure what you mean by "the deal" but both were signed due to a dearth of players from WWII

Xavier Nady was drafted in 2000 and went to the Major Leagues without spending time in the minors, but not immediately after the June draft.

I'm pretty sure Kaline went straight from HS to the minors.

Wasn't that part of the bonus baby rules, that they had to go straight to the teams major league ball club, and not have a chance to develop in the minors?
