"It's the fans that need spring training. You gotta get 'em interested. Wake 'em up and let 'em know that their season is coming, the good times are gonna roll."
-Legendary Baseball Broadcaster Harry Caray
not at all, except for that he could have had most of that money guarenteed a few weeks ago. Now he's got to get it through incentives.
I am so Happy!
Now the Yankees are comeplete....WS here we come.....
I would really like to know what Joe Morgan thinks about the signing.
I'll just remind all Irrational Yankee fans what I have all day:
Signing the worse Yankee version of Tim Wakefield is the hump you needed to get over to get to the WS?
And yes...don't bother looking it up. Tim Wakefield was a better pitcher than Andy Pettitte last year. Andy Sonnanstine was better too.
But he will be a great 5th starter! WS WS WS here we come!
This is the one guy, outside of Randy Johnson, that I felt would have been an absolutely perfect addition to the Dodger rotation for many reasons. Sucks that we didn't get him, but that's a great re-sign by the Yankees.
NYA has gotta be the odds-on favorite so far to win the World Series...
At that price, VERY nice resign by the Yanks.
I don't see Pettite as the piece to make the Yankees a world series contender. Yes they did beaf up a hell of a lot this year. But (and I wish I could find the thread) do you remember talking about how important defensive ratings have been for each team that has won since 2000? The Yankees have beefed up their lineup, and their rotation. And yes I believe that makes them more competitive, and also places a lot of pressure on the players. But I don't think by any means they have any guarentees to even win the division. Baseball is baseball, one of the reasons I love it so much is that ANYTHING can happen once the season starts
