That's pretty good for him, WORLD SERIES! I actually hope they just outright him to AAA or something and just eat his contract.

    Just an update

Brandon Morrow is moving to the pen again and Tyler Walker has been released.
Also they got Chris Burke from the Padres for a PTBNL or cash.

I guess I should also add that Jeff Clement was sent to AAA and RRS will likely take the 5th spot in the rotation.

Dude, this just shows how bad Bavasi was. Morrow feels more confortable in the Pen....uhhh!!!

At first I was super pissed about this, but the more I think about it the more I realize it was unlikely to ever pan out. A day after he took starts he said he couldn't move his arm at all because of his diabetes and I feel that even if he were a starter, he would have to limit his innings and deal with his blood sugar levels throughout his entire career and it just isn't worth it.

yes, but if he was a starter, to start off with, he would be better able to manage his blood sugar.

eh, I sort of doubt it. The guy would never have had that many innings and it sounded like his diabetes really hit him hard after his starts. I agree with what you're saying about Bavasi being dumb moving him to the bullpen trying to 'win now', but I don't think he would have ever succeeded as a starter because of his arm problem/diabetes.

Hmmm...about $37 million coming off the books next year before raises to arb-eligible players. Maybe an extension for Beltre but after that, maybe they get a guy like Holliday, Bay, Abreu, Ankiel or a guy like Lackey.

    Re: Official Mariners Thread

Felix would come first (obviously ), but Beltre, Washburn and Bedard will all walk away IMO. Beltre is great and everything, but I think Tui is ready. He's obviously a downgrade, but he should be at least average defensively and I think he'll be at least average offensively. I would imagine that Triunfel will move to third so a stopgap is really all we need. The only other player I hope they re-sign is possibly Chad Cordero (depending on this season of course). I sort of doubt he'll re-sign because of Fields/Morrow and his desire to save, but if possible it would be awesome.

    EDIT :
Holliday, Bay, Abreu, Ankiel or a guy like Lackey
Between those guys I'd only be open to Holliday or Bay. It all really depends on how well Holliday does for Oakland and how much money both are asking for. I guess I'd be open to Lackey or something, but I hope they work a trade for a starter during the season instead. With Abreu I imagine his only value would be as a DH next year and if we still have Clement I'd rather give him the playing time there pending some crazy bad season at AAA or a trade that probably should happen soon. With Ankiel...Boras....

I'm pretty sure Boras is also Holliday's agent.
