    Best Outfield Arms of 2008

I saw this and thought it was pretty cool.

    http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/ar...-arms-of-2008/

Keep in mind that this DOES NOT rate arm STRENGTH but rather how they perform in situations. In a blog I was reading earlier they commented on how even though Ichiro's Kill+ was barely above average his Hold+ was the best in the league.

The two things I would probably attribute this would be that he played only 91 games in RF and that he has a reputation as having a strong arm. I can't really prove the second point, but that is just my opinion.

Anyways just thought you guys might want to check it out and see how your favorite players look

I understand how they did this, but I don't see how Ankiel can be so far down when he and Ichiro seem to be able to have the most powerful arms. What I see here is effective arms. More or less I am reading this to say that these guys throw the most runners out or are most effective in getting people to stop running. Not necessarily the best arms in the outfield.

seems you could just clock how hard each one throws and get different results. That is my point of reference.

6th doesn't seem "so far down."

Anyway, this is meant to rank what DID happen, not necessarily who ARE the best arms. Just who WERE the best arms, in terms of run prevention, in 2008.

My biggest criticism (not actual criticism but ... i dunno ... thing to consider, i guess) is that it doesn't seem to take into account anything regarding the situation. A 450 foot fly to right field with Carl Crawford on 2nd = a 300 foot fly to right field with Benji Molina on 2nd.

I'm a little surprised that Kemp is named *the* best OF arm. I knew he would have to be in the top 5 CF, but didn't see this one coming.

Once he fine tunes his ability to read hits and pursue the ball, he's going to be absolutely nasty in CF. He's already made huge strides in the mental aspect of the game, and I can't imagine he doesn't get better.

Just one more reason Matt Kemp is quickly becoming my favorite Dodger.
