As expected, Henderson and Rice inducted into Hall of Fame

http://www.baseballwriters.org/awards/HOF/2009_HOF.html - Sorry about your eyes.

Anyway, Henderson received 94.8% of the votes. 28 people decided that Rickey Henderson was not a Hall of Famer. Jim Rice barely slid in with 76.4%. Andre Dawson at 67% and Bert Blyleven at 62.7% are the only other candidates to receive over 50%. Tim Raines is still getting a ridiculously low number of votes (22.6%). McGwire's support fell slightly to 21.9%.

Alright Rickey. Rice...ehh. 14 years on the fence, one year he tips in. I know if you're not a Sox fan (or under 40) he didn't deserve it...but oh well. Maybe next time, Bert.

Congrats to both. Does anyone have a list of the new players who are eligable for the 2010 ballot?

I can only assume Raines got so few votes because they werent going to vote for the same type of player twice in the same year. and MAN that site is horrible

Mark Grace had 22 votes almost making the cut. What a fun player to watch even though I dislike the loveable losers.

    Nevermind, I found this:

Roberto Alomar, Kevin Appier, Andy Ashby, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Ray Lankford, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Shane Reynolds, Robin Ventura, and Todd Zeile.

2010: Roberto Alomar, Kevin Appier, Andy Ashby, Ellis Burks, Dave Burba, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Ray Lankford, Barry Larkin, Edgar Martinez, Fred McGriff, Mark McLemore, Shane Reynolds, David Segui, Robin Ventura, Fernando Vina, Todd Zeile

I'd say yes to Alomar and Larkin without a moment's thought, and I'd like to examine Appier, Martinez, and McGriff more in depth.

Definitely Alomar and Larkin. Ventura and McGriff good consideration. Man did I love Ventura.

Appier was above average, but not HoF worthy.

Mcgriff... if he could have hit 2hat 3 more HR he would have had 500 and they would have put him in. Dont know Alomar or Larkin well enough, I know who in 2015 tho
Edgar probably makes it... doesnt he have 3000 hits?
    Mad Dog

*side note* should put both Mad Dog and Chrime Dog in together... that would be awesome

Re: As expected, Henderson and Rice inducted into Hall of Fame

No he didn't come close to 3000, but he was a doubles and rbi machine as well as a great hitter. He didn't fully start playing in the majors until he was like 27 or 28 kind of making his career shorter than many. He basically played 13 or 14 combined FULL seasons.

I'm not a HOF guy, I just don't get it and think it's all-around silly...

BUT, I look forward to the Edgar Martinez debates. He's known as a pure DH and he seems to be awfully underrated offensively, to me anyways. Could be interesting.
My runs created per 27 posts (RC/27p) was 12.4 last year. I should've been MVP.

If the Hall goes by numbers, he is not close to being in.
