Yeah, my whole family and many of my friends despise him. The grandslam to Vlad in the playoffs in '04 is just one reason, but generally just because it seemed like every time he came into a game he gave up a run and/or the lead.

Yea, he did get unreliable towards the end. I can't blame him though, except that he should maybe have retired a bit earlier

Olivo's not bad, so long as he doesn't play everyday.

He was pretty unreliable throughout, in my opinion. I had to turn off the TV or look away whenever he was brought into the game.

Excellent power, though. I don't know about his defense, but given 250-300 at bats a year, he's a positive.

I believe he is average, maybe above average at defense. I am not totally sure however

Arm is okay, behind the plate he's a complete pile of crap. He literally drops ten pitches a game and allows a ton of balls to get behind/away from him....a lot of them seem to go as wild pitches, but would easily be blocked by a competent catcher.

Against LHPs, he can rake. Against RHPs, he's abysmal. .841 OPS against LHPs, .627 against RHPs...those are career numbers. .830/.667 last year. I don't mind him off the bench.....but as said previously, that's about it. His plate discipline is just stupid....throw the ball in the dirt, record an out..it's almost as simple as that.

As in my previous post...I think he's awful defensively, but that is just based on the one year I've seen him. Perhaps he used to be better. His arm was his only decent defensive quality last year.

I think he has gained some weight, so that likely did not help.

I hope so..b/c last year got tough to watch. I mean..he literally had trouble catching the ball a few games. I only hate him just b/c so many fans wanted him as a starter last year....I don't mind him as a backup catcher getting 250 ABs a year.

I like Buck better as stated. He is not an amazing player, but I like him, he is cool
