A major flaw in the current system is simply that they choose rankings before any games are played and basically, if you aren't ranked, you have to have an awful lot go your way to get to the top..and if you are a mid-major, it's ten times tougher no matter what. The only way, the ONLY possible way, that Utah could play for a national title, is if they had been ranked in the top 5 to start the season..which we know will not happen. Their SOS will never be strong enough to leap over the top teams..if they don't start the season at the top...they won't make it there. Preseason rankings are a complete joke.

Good article, but this happens every friggen year of how someone deserves the title and doesnt get it. Its just the same boring argument.

I see they've come a long way from barely beating Michigan. Hell, if Michigan had played Threet the whole game they would've won.

Agreed. I think Utah is the first mid-major to have a legitimate shot at it though.
